Summary

When a devilish lord and a bluestocking set off on the road to ruin...time is not on their side.

Minerva Highwood, one of Spindle Cove's confirmed spinsters, needs to be in Scotland. Colin Sandhurst, Lord Payne, a rake of the first order, needs to be...anywhere but Spindle Cove. These unlikely partners have one week: to fake an elopement to convince family and friends they're in love to outrun armed robbers to survive their worst nightmares to travel four hundred miles without killing each other. All while sharing a very small carriage by day and an even smaller bed by night.

What they don't have time for is their growing attraction. Much less wild passion. And heaven forbid they spend precious hours baring their hearts and souls. Suddenly one week seems like exactly enough time to find a world of trouble. And maybe…just maybe…everlasting love.

Surreal with lots of sex

The build-up of the characters didn't carry through. In fact, it was a bit like a parallel universe.
The overall statement was, "I shouldn't ve doing this, but I have to."
His traumatic childhood is meant to produce sympathy, and her down to earth approach is meant to do the same. Then, there are a lot of weird characters added to the mix.
Not believable, one surreal event after the other; ridiculous.

Regency fun, love and some danger.

Good easy flowing story with lots of humour, made me lough so much. It's almost Georgette Heyer plus hot sexy bits. My complements to the narrator: all correct pronunciation and nicely accented voices.
I have fairly recently discovered Regency romances, which I find very entertaining. Some authors tend to overwrite the plot, however it is not the case with Miss Tessa Dare, at least not with this my first book by this author. Will definitely try more of her books.

Happy easy listen

You know what you are getting with a book from Tessa Dare. Once again a happy, easy to listen to book. Nothing too heavy, although the story is splattered with complications and sad memories. Enjoyable listening.

A fun listen

Probably one of the best historical romance type books I’ve listened to. I often find the genre a bit dull, but this book had plenty of fun and a building romance.

Humorous, Romantic, Delightful

I admit that I too fell in love with Lord Colin Payne and the story of his escapades with the bookish Minerva Highwood, who seems likely to become one of Spindle Cove's future spinsters. Minerva talks Lord Payne into escorting her in a fake elopement to Scotland, where she hopes to present her paper on fossils at the Geological Society in Edinburgh. Before he agrees, Colin sets several conditions on his participation, all of which Minerva knows are certain "ruin" her socially. But she is willing to sacrifice all to further her academic career. The journey becomes a comedy of errors of sorts where Colin's knack for storytelling creates unexpected surprises and brings Minerva out of her shell in astonishing ways. Minerva learns about his tragic past and brings Colin out of his "shell" as she comes to understand his secrets and what he needs to get beyond them. Lots of laughs as well as a sexy and touching romance.

One of the best HR books I've read to date!!!!

I have now read all books in the series except one and as much as I've liked all, this book was just something else. I love romance even when a bit cheesy and in so many HR books the love develops quickly but I guess that was what times demanded. This book was such a breath of fresh air that it took me completely by surprise. One of the few books I have EVER read where the hero is not at all interested in the heroine and the events in their journey and her character is what binds him to her and gives way for TRUE romance, passion and love and not those purely based on looks. Tessa Dare is also a very clever writer so her stories have many moments of true brilliance and even deep resonating laughter. This book was a truly wonderful find.

Funny, sweet, sexy - sums up both Colin & the book

I generally don't like "road" books, but I'll make an exception for this one. Colin and Minerva are a delightful couple, and Colin is one of the funniest heroes since Lisa Kleypas's Leo in Married By Morning.

This variation on the rake-meets-bluestocking-spinster is hilarious, touching, and hot, and Carolyn Morris's narration is excellent.

Loved it!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was very amusing at times so funny I found myself laughing out loud quite often. I really loved the fact that she was like an ugly duckling who blossomed into a swan and got the handsome prince. Very easy listening with a terrific narrator I highly recommend

Great listen Charmingly sexy. Minerva made me laugh

Where does A Week to Be Wicked rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

A very high 9

What other book might you compare A Week to Be Wicked to and why?

Good questions. Can't compare the storyline really.

Have you listened to any of Carolyn Morris’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I like her.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No spoilers lol but Minerva's sacrifices

Any additional comments?

I loved this book.. usually second parts of a series are boring but this one was funny charming and kept me wondering what next.

Creative writing, delightful characters

Carolyn Morris did an outstanding job in narrating this book....this series. She brought Tessa Dare's delightful characters to life...made them real. She added humor and added perfect inflection. This book is as good as it gets in a historical romance. Congratulations to Tessa & Carolyn....another winner.

my first Tessa Dare book

I'd seen her books in my recommended and always shied away because of the slightly silly titles. TURNS OUT they're silly because Ms. Dare has a fantastic tongue in cheek sense of humor!

this book was sweet and funny, romantic and sexy, adventurous and feminist. i loved every minute and will definitely be back for more.
