Summary

Despite growing up in a family of villains, I’d rather curl up and read than commit crimes. When I get coerced by my brother into helping him rob a bank, I run into August, my childhood crush, also known as Chrono, the city’s greatest superhero. He’s sexy, sweet, and suddenly, he’s asking me to Thanksgiving with his parents.

It’s probably because he doesn’t realize that I’m Leviathan, a villain with the power of telekinesis. And I can’t tell him because he’d never forgive me and would stop doing things like cooking for me - wait, maybe that would be a good thing, since he’s a terrible cook. It doesn’t help that my parents think they’re the ultimate villains and won’t stop getting in my way, although they can’t even steal toilet paper without getting caught.

But when real supervillains (not the wannabe kind that I grew up with) start targeting August, I might be forced to show everyone who I truly am: a slightly warped and snarky man who’d really rather read a book than save anything...besides August.

I’ll tear this world apart just to get another glimpse of him in those glasses and spandex suit. I’ll do whatever it takes to keep him safe, even though it means exposing my true identity. Luckily, August still cares about me, proving that even a villain and a hero can fall in love. Hopefully, we’ll be able to save the world in time for Christmas.

This ridiculous and snarky holiday novel contains a villain-turned-unlikely hero (even if he’s a manager's worst nightmare), a superhero with a fondness for suckers who absolutely does not use his powers to cheat on board games, a hairless cat with an unfortunate name, bumbling family members that try to be evil, but are mostly just embarrassing, a snow globe with mysterious powers, betrayal, true love, a risqué Santa suit, and the saltiest chicken ever.

Amazing!

Totally love all the twists and action as well as the cute love between Landon and August, they are the perfect ‘power’ couple

This is an interesting story. Well written and with likeable characters. The narration is good as well.

Love this!

Alice Winters is a fantastic author and I love all their fiction! Not too keen on Micheal Lesley as a narrator for this, too much sighing, pausing and awkward voices but the book is good so it makes up for it

Great book and Great narration.

I love Alice Winters and have all of her paperbacks so I already knew it was a story I would enjoy.

I found the narrator difficult to begin with only because I have been doing a Audible binge, the Narrator's vibe and style was hugely different from the last few but I knew I loved the story, after about 10ish minutes I was entranced. Great narration and I am looking forward to hearing more from the Narrator.

Meh!

I’ve listened to 7 of Alice Winters audiobooks over the past week and I was really looking forward to this one . I feel totally let down although the story was good it was totally ruined by the narrator it was so frustrating especially after I’ve bought book 2 and it’s the same narrator I’m just hoping he’s improved in the 3 years since book 1.

Fabulous narration

I adore this book, I've read it more than once, Landon is one of my most favourite characters and just like Landon, I'd much rather be left alone to read a book! He's a completely fabulous and sarcastic character and Michael Lesley really brings out Landon's sarcasm. Fabulous job.

Another Snarky sassy book

Thoroughly entertaining as always. I love the sassy Snarky main characters of Alice's books.
How her brain works to come up with these books is beyond me, but I love the outcome. Keep them coming. 😍

Love these characters

How can you not laugh at Alice Winters Snarky characters.

But I have have notice a few of the books the characters are quite similar.

But they all make me laugh and listen again and again! So who cares

And as always gold star narration by Mr Lesley.

Interesting story but far too much padding

Enjoyed this audiobook but got exasperated with the padding between the action of the story. Not sure I can face listening to the next instalment. Perhaps reading it might be better.

All comedy, no depth

I love Alice Winters books because she’s got an amazing ability to write great characters, fun situations and witty funny dialogue, but still manage to maintain depth. However, this one was a little shallow and flippant. I think the narrator added to the shallow feel. He was awesome narrating TJ Klune’s Tales From Verania series which is comical, but in this story it made it all seemed a bit farcical. Still an ok story, but I’ll stick with Alice Winters’ other books.
