healing
I loved the narration of Frances Anderson, bringing the characters and plot all together. Making this a great listen,
Carter and Laura have a painful history, but fate has brought them together again for a second chance. Carter made some awful decisions as a teen. Laura has a young son, she also a true healer and is a paramedic.
These two are meant be together. Loved this story.

Small town, second chance romance
Laura can heal people, its her secret and its what drove her to join the medical field. Only a broken marriage and a little boy has caused her to pause her long term plans. Ex high school boyfriend Carter makes a surprise appearance and brings back some feelings she didn't think she'd have again.
I did struggle to like Laura for a while, she seemed determined to be a martyr when it came to being a single parent, refusing any help offered even if it made her life even harder. She was also very judgemental when it came to Carter.
I enjoyed watching Carter trying to get to know Laura again, but boy did she make it hard work for him.
For me, this book is too long for the storyline content, but it does give you chance to get to know that characters a whole lot more. Saying that, the ending felt rushed after everything Laura and Carter had to go through to be together, I would have liked to see more of how their life together looked rather a quick wrap up in the epilogue.
Narrator Frances Anderson does a great job overall. However I did sometimes struggle knowing who was talking in some conversations as the voice distinction was minimal.
