Summary
The electrifying new thriller from Shari Lapena, author of the Sunday Times best seller The Couple Next Door.
Why would you run scared from a happy home?
You're waiting for your beloved husband to get home from work. You're making dinner, looking forward to hearing about his day.
That's the last thing you remember.
You wake up in hospital, with no idea how you got there. They tell you that you were in an accident; you lost control of your car whilst driving in a dangerous part of town.
The police suspect you were up to no good. But your husband refuses to believe it. Your best friend isn't so sure. And even you don't know what to believe....

Stylish.
A brilliant engaging book. It's the sort you don't want to actually end, the stylish narration adding to the sumptuous feeling as you become totally enveloped. I love everything this author produces.

Another predictable thriller!
What disappointed you about A Stranger in the House?
This was again predictable. There nothing thrilling in this book. I wanted better characters - why do married couples never have a sit down conversation in these kind of books. There was no REAL interaction between the main couple. The relationship of the main couple depends on the reader simply 'going with it' - ie the husband didn't know about his wife's past but he is meant to be an intelligent person.
Has A Stranger in the House put you off other books in this genre?
This book has not put me off this genre. I have read other books of this type which were utterly engaging and I could not put them down. Sadly this was not one of them.
Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Tavia Gilbert?
Tavia Gilbert tried to inject interest and some 'life' into this book but failed due to the obvious storyline and characters that had not been 'fleshed out'.
You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
This book promised much but gave little satisfaction. The story although predictable might have worked if it had been handled a little better.
Any additional comments?
I would not be keen on purchasing another Shari Lapena book.

Kept me guessing until the end.
I enjoyed this, I didn't particularly like or engage with any of the characters but the plot twists are clever and will keep you guessing.

Overall Disappointing Saved by A Good Twist
I found the style of this book to be disappointing compared to Shari Lapena's other book. The characters were very one dimensional and difficult to relate to or to care about. The author never really develops them as believable people with motivations leading to their actions. I had no sense of what they were like or even how they looked. The story is fast paced without any real development. the only thing that saved this book for me was the final twist which I did not see coming. The book was also saved by the narration which was generally good.

loved the narration
a Lil bit of a drag in between when Karen is arrested. Tom came across as a wimp that could be swayed either by his wife or Bridget.
