About this listen
When showbiz gets ugly...
The world of showbiz comes to Bexford when the new series of hit TV show Foul Murder is launched there. Soon, life imitates art as a murder is committed, live on stage.
Luckily, Detective Sergeant Guy Poole and Detective Inspector Sam Brock are in the audience to take charge of the scene.
When it becomes clear that one of their own is the prime suspect, they are determined to help prove his innocence, no matter how annoying he is.

Most Enjoyable
Another enjoyable mystery in the company of Brock and Poole. Unusual characters and an entertaining plot. An excellent choice especially as its a freebie. Well worth a listen.

likable characters
Good listen. I like the way relationships are growing quickly between the characters in what is a short book. Looking forward to the next one.

Solid listen
Found on audible plus and so far this and the previous book in the series have been solid listening with tight story lines and good characters. Not the most inventive or twisty plot but listened to these in just a few sittings and looking forward to the next instalment

"Bit of an odd one, sir."
Book two of the Brook and Poole detective series continues to delight. Unusual in that the two lead protagonists are both male, the plot itself takes second stage to the development of the characters.
A new series of a popular TV show is launched, episode one to be transmitted live. Instead, the theatre goes dark and an actor dies. But why? And how?
Delicious fun, performed by Nigel Patterson, and recommended.

Good old-style team, mystery with subtle humour
Whodunnit with good mystery and humour. Highly recommend.
Am hooked but discovered only 3 out of 5 books in series on audible and no other audible books for this author... understand the costs to create audibles but such a pity that quality writers like these are not able to be automatically audible. I am a MC Beaton fan and thought I had found another audible author.
Love narrator's voice...reminds me of a voice from the past but cannot place the character.

Most enjoyable
Enjoyable but with the caveat that it should have been longer, should have also had a more engaging narrator, BUT, after rewinding numerous times, I still finished it a few short hours after finishing the first book, which was equally enjoyable.
I never guessed the guilty party so plus one for that, narrator is still rather bland though, Nigel, you need to animate a little please.

Not as good as 1st book
Contrived wooden and predictable. Found it hard to listen won’t try rest of the series unless they get moved to plus

listen to it because its free
its safe to say lot of worse books out there. its quite a quick little mystery that keeps going. The main problem with the mystery is that the big clue was identify by the listener early on the police pick up on it right at the end.
This story has some horrible points. The relationship between the Sargent and the constable. does no one think a superior trying to sleep with their subordinate isn't wrong. Every scene between the pair is painful. Also like the first book the police have an idea on the killer but no proof luckily the killer grabs a hostage and explains the entire plot. Just like book 1, which is good or the police would never get a conviction.
lastly while I am aware of unreliable narrators the father of Sargent Poole goes from criminal master mind to innocent man moving shipments he knows are too good to be true but he can't turn down the money. I could do without this horrible sub plot, which I am sure will show up in more books.
