Summary
From the author behind the number one Amazon best sellers A Not So Meet Cute and So Not Meant to Be and narrated by Erin Mallon and JF Harding, Meghan Quinn brings the third Cane brother in this all new hilarious modern-day spin of My Best Friend's Wedding.
With a new ring on her finger, Ophelia is in dire need when it comes to dealing with her nightmare of a mother-in-law and planning a wedding. Thankfully her best friend of more than 10 years has recently found some time on his hands, so she recruits Breaker Cane to be her faithful "man in waiting".
More than happy to help, Breaker takes his title of man of honor very seriously; that's until he starts to realize that the weird butterfly feelings he's been experiencing lately are directed at his soon-to-be-married best friend. Now, he has four weeks to prove to Ophelia that he's the one she should be marrying, but expressing his feelings isn't that easy.
Especially when the fiancé doesn't want to give up so easily.

Have loved this series, but this was my favourite!
The whole series has been brilliant, but Breaker and Lia’s story was just so touching and funny and hot - that bathroom scene 🤪 !!! It was lovely to see how the brother’s relationships were going too. The narrators were fabulous too - Erin Mallon is my absolute fave! Highly recommended!

all the stars, so so good
OK so I'm officially a fan girls of Meghan Quinn, I've listened to several of her books now, she has now become a one click author for me. I thought there must be a dud of hers out there somewhere but I've yet to find it. They seem to just get better and better. she is able to enfuse every aspect of the book, romance, humour the relationships with excellent writing that makes the characters and the story relatable. one of my favourite scenes is when the brothers are getting off the plane (chef's kiss). I loved this book and I'm becoming more and more convinced that these type of romance books should be used as Sex Ed in high school. I'd love to see her books on the big screen.
Erin Mallon and JF Harding are 2 of my top favourite narrator's, they are a mater class in narration performance perfection.

Sweet Friends to Lovers Romance!
This is the third book in the Cane Brothers Series, a Romantic Comedy. I love the Cane Brothers! I loved Ophelia/Lia and Breaker's sweet friends to lovers and slow burn romance. Breaker is very handsome, and supportive. Lia is beautiful, kind, and smart. They are perfect together. The storyline is entertaining, funny, and heartwarming. Some scenes are hilarious! Outstanding narration from Erin Mallon and JF Harding. I enjoyed it.

Breaker and Lia!
Lia met Breaker when they were in college and from their first meeting a friendship emerged and has only strengthened over the years. Even though Lia is now engaged it is Breaker who is her neighbor and who knows her better than anyone else. When she asked him to support her as she tried to plan a wedding that would please both herself and her domineering mother-in-law to be she never expected that it would have her re-evaluating her relationship with Breaker as well.
Breaker’s life has always centered around Lia and the time they spent together even if he never realized it. Although he may not like her fiancé he wants her to be happy but the more time he spends helping her plan the wedding forces him to realize how wrong her fiancé is for her and how right he is and now he just needs to convince her.
I really enjoyed the friendship that Lia and Breaker shared and that everyone around them realized their feelings for each other except for themselves. Seeing them come to the realization that they have always been a couple, even if it was platonic, is everything you could want and more. The narrators only make their story even better as they enhanced not only the relationship between Lia and Breaker but the relationships they had with his brothers and their wives.

One of my favorite Meghan Quinn Books
Five stars!
This book is the perfect example of why I listen to Meghan Quinn books. Lia is one of my favorite heroines ever and Breaker is for sure my favorite of the brothers in this series.
My favorite thing about this book is the way they really cared for each other. Always backing each other up, sticking up for each other and really taking the time to be friends.
This book also brought plenty of steam and the humor you expect from MQ.
Narration by Erin Mallon and JF Harding is fantastic. JF harding is a new favorite.

Friends to Lovers Perfection
A Long Time Coming is Breaker's story, the third and youngest Cane brother. After loving both Huxley and JP's books I was curious to see how Breaker would differ from his siblings. This book is a friends to lovers romance and Breakers love interest is his best friend Lia. Breaker and Lia have been inseparable as best friends for a decade after meeting at college, the start of the book begins with the start of their friendship and took me a few chapters to get into the feel of the story. After this initial introduction to set the scene, I became invested quickly when Lia gets engaged and reveals the news to Breaker.
There are plenty of laugh out loud moments involved when the future Mother-in-Law is a socialite fixated on status and public perception and Lia isn't the most poised and delicate of brides to be. Thankfully Breaker is there as her Maid of Honour to back her up on getting a little say in how it all goes down on her big day. This premise provided a lot of my favourite moments within the book, both with humour and emotion.
When things finally click for Breaker and he realises he has feelings for his best friend, was a beautifully written scene. Meghan portrayed the moment with so much authenticity and totally captured the essence of that moment. Then what follows this for the remainder of the book is swoon worthy and ERMAGAH steamy hot goodness!!
There wasn't really a gut punch break up Meghan Quinn special in this story just a few hiccups along the way but I think that worked well for Breaker and Lia's story. It was great to have Lottie, Huxley, Kelsey and JP back too, for family dinners and plenty of banter. No-one does sibling conversations quite like Meghan does!!
Another positive about this book was the excellent audio narration by Erin Mallon and JF Harding. Erin I am a fan of and have listened to several of her titles, she is always a joy to listen to, especially in those awkward comedic moments. JF Harding voicing Breaker however, was a new to me voice. All I can say is I hope I get to listen to many, many more novels from him. He narrated Breakers character perfectly! He was so endearing and then at the same time the loveable hero we all crave from a good romance. One scene in particular where Breaker gives Lia some instructions as advice was very pleasing on the ear *wink wink*
Overall a fantastic addition to Meghan Quinn's repertoire and one I would revisit and recommend. A Long Time Coming has all the elements you need to tick off those friends to lovers trope boxes, check, check and check.

Hot Hot Hot
I absolutely adore Breaker Cane and Ophelia Fairweather-Fern together. The best of friends for years, having no interest in anything more. Until that is, Lia gets engaged and Breaker becomes her Man of Honor. He suddenly realises he wants more (with the help of the perfect dress), and Lea’s new fiancé makes it easy for him to make a play for her, because quite frankly, he’s not the man for her, not by a long shot. Breaker is swoon-worthy throughout, he really makes it easy to fall in love with him. As is the case with Meghan Quinn’s stories, it’s laugh out loud funny, it’s totally entertaining, a little emotional and a whole lot of scorching hot! A friends to lovers true romance. I adore the Cane brothers, they banter so together so well, and when they start texting each other it’s truly hilarious. Wonderful characters, an entertaining storyline, and, if you listen to the audio version you’ll be captivated by perfect narration (in duet) from Erin Mallon and JF Harding. Feel good romance at its best. A full five stars from me.

Another audio with duet where the quality sucks
The quality between the male and female is so different I can't listen to it. I hope Meghan goes back to dual because this and the one before this in the brother's books have been awful. Did the author even listen to it? Did it even go through QC?
And of course I can't get a refund because of the nrw refund policy. Ridiculous.

My favorite
Of the three brothers stories, Breaker(sp) and Lea’s story is my favorite listen. I believe their chemistry was the best but still didn’t get the feeling of undying love between them. Great lust but not love. With that said, I recommend the series. Now I have to track down Banner’s and Penn’s stories with their love interests. Even if it’s not a “series” so to speak it would be nice if related books were listed in the credits.

The story and narration are *chef's kiss*
I’ll be honest. I have issues with the friend-to-lovers trope. I don’t like it when characters have been friends for ages and then out of the blue they notice that their best friend looks hot in a bikini, so now they have to date them or die. Um… hello? Did you just develop eyeballs? Surprisingly, this trope worked for me in A Long Time Coming.
I was going to read the book, but when I found out that the audiobook features J.F. Harding and Erin Mallon–two of my absolute favorite narrators–I didn’t hesitate to listen instead. Not only are the vocal performances phenomenal, but the dual narration is a game changer. My listening experience was greatly enhanced. There’s no male trying to imitate a female voice or vice versa–something that can be challenging to pull off successfully.
I highly recommend this entertaining romantic comedy.

Nightmare MIL - over exaggerated
While the performance was great, the relationship with the bf/ finance was over the top. Sure, there are MILs from hell, mama boys, and controlling/ superficial people, this one seemed to take it too far with no response. just made it so far fetched and unbelievable.
was an on story, just felt like another idea to write a book, but the pieces never fully synced together.
Also, there were lots of snippets of other things but never went into detail. just want a fully rounded story.

Meh….
I tried to give this book a shot but the female voice was bad. The chemistry between the two made it hard for me to like them as a couple because of the female voice. I ended up skipping to the end. Bummer because I enjoyed the two other books in this series.

Very cute story! Low drama but still with some good content. The fmc is sort of annoying in a "not like other girls" sort of way, however, but not enough to lose a star.

A little too long actually
The story could lose a couple of hours, but otherwise it was great. The relationships were well built, but it was “a long time coming” to the change from friends to lovers. Once the heat started, it was volcanic, but it took 7 or 8 of the 12 hours to get there.
The point that they needed to be together had been made, as well as the fact that the relationship between the female lead and her fiancé and his mother was not going to work. It was repeated in too many scenarios. The whole battle about the red roses versus daisies would have been a great place to stop.
Also, from the synopsis I was expecting more of a battle from the fiancé.
It was great to see a vulnerable hero, especially one so previously alpha in other behaviors, but it was overall just too long.
