Summary

It’s Christmas, and things are looking good at the Slocombe house. Thea’s daughter Jessica has come to stay, much to her stepdaughter Stephanie’s delight. But then things take a turn for the worse. A local family, the Frowses, finds themselves increasingly harassed by an aggressive landlord.

When Beverley Frowse goes missing, Thea and Stephanie both feel they should do their best to help her husband and son to solve the mystery.

Christmas Day arrives. There are presents, a turkey and general goodwill, despite Thea’s suppressed hankering to be involved in events at the Frowses’ house, where a dead man has been discovered....

I love Rebecca Tope

But just could not get into this book and story at all. Just found it a bit confusing.

Very Enjoyable with many Red Herrings

Even though you think you know who did it, your guess may not be correct

Doesn't seem to know when it is set

Weird book. Set in modern times (lots of refs to smart phones social media etc) but everyone talks like they're in the 1920s, it's so odd. Slow to get going then ends too fast so you don't actually fully get how the murder actually happens.

Drawn out and lacking in interest

I usually enjoy this series but this book was drawn out and full of waffle with minimal reference to a crime. The narrator was irritating in her voices; making the 12 year old sound like a 6 year old. Not her best work but it passed the time.

90% waffle and 10% boring. Give it a miss.
