About this listen
Edinburgh. This city will bleed you dry.
Dr Will Raven is a man seldom shocked by human remains, but even he is disturbed by the contents of a package washed up at the Port of Leith. Stranger still, a man Raven has long detested is pleading for his help to escape the hangman.
Back in the townhouse of Dr James Simpson, Sarah Fisher has set her sights on learning to practise medicine. Almost everyone seems intent on dissuading her from this ambition, but when word reaches her that a woman has recently obtained a medical degree despite her gender, Sarah decides to seek her out.
Raven's efforts to prove his former adversary's innocence are failing, and he desperately needs Sarah's help. Putting their feelings for one another aside, their investigations take them to both extremes of Edinburgh's social divide, where they discover that wealth and status cannot alter a fate written in the blood.

Very good series
I have enjoyed the 3 books in the series so far. I particularly like the two narrators. Both are very skilled at portraying all of the necessary characters. Looking forward to the next book in the series. Hopefully with the same narrators. I now need to try to find a story that will keep my interest as much as this one did :-).

Interesting historical thriller
I love these characters already, the factual history and fictional stories are just brilliant. Hope this isn't the last one!

Excellent culmination.
Excellent culmination. Taking perhaps a little long to reach it. I would have like to have been hooked a little earlier on.

Brilliant
This book was as good as the other two. I have one complaint they changed the narration of Sarah which I felt was a real shame the original narrator Louise Brealey was much better. Still an excellent book though.

Another excellent story.
This is the third book in the series and it does not disappoint. I pre-ordered it as I couldn’t wait - as in the previous stories , the narration is excellent , Bryan Dick is brilliant as Raven and so is Cathleen McCarron - in the last two books Louise Brealey played Sarah and I did miss her voice this time.

Another excellent historical mystery by Parry
This is the third in this excellent series of historical mysteries with a medical theme. The audiobook was well narrated by the two readers.

Hurrah for new narrator
I was very pleased to see a new narrator after two by Louise Brearley with her monotone delivery.

Much better narration
Another excellent story and a pleasure to listen to - both narrators did a great job, much better female narration than the first two books.
