Very informative!

I had Philosophy at school and university and I always found the subject fascinating yet complex. In this great guide Dominic Hayes covers key ideas and theories brought about by great thinkers and how their views through history helped shape our current reality. I particularly enjoyed learning more about religions and how they were originated and the impact and history of the Catholic church. I thought the writing style was engaging and the narration was fantastic making these concepts easy to comprehend.

Great reference

This book is an excellent and thorough account of historical and cultural influences, including the rich contributions of science and religion. I found it fascinating how philosophers influenced one another and how certain ways of thinking endured over time and kept re-surfacing and re-influencing other thinkers hundreds, even a thousand years later (like Aristotle, for example). This is very well written and told like a story.
