Summary

Marcus Didius Falco discovers that rank brings problems, the most gruesome of which is a corpse buried under the tiles of his new bath house. The contractors have fled to Britain where, as the Fates have it, Falco is ordered. A local chief and ally of the Romans is having a Palace built by the Emperor Vespasian. However, the project is running late, and fatal accidents keep happening. Falco, troubleshooting for the Emperor, is without an ally and now next on the list for assassination.

Great narration

Perfect combination of story and reader! Really entertaining read. I’ll be listening to any of the Falco books read by this narrator.

Yet another gem from Lindsey Davis

I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. I had previously read this book after reading the 'Silver Pigs', and was so impressed by A Body in the Bath House's plot and the narration of this that I listended to all the other books in the series. I later bought the hardbacks to read and cannot wait to hear more audio books in this series. Please Audible - release more Falco books soon!

Canny

I don’t understand what it is about this series of books but I really enjoy them. They aren’t complicated plots and they have all the pace of a traffic jam but I find them enjoyable all the same

Falco does it again

Excellent narration. Just seems to bring Falco to life, you can imagine him striding around in his toga. The story was full of twists. Very enjoyable

Falco rocks!

I gave list count of how many times I have listened to this book. Stuck for a good read I love a bit of Falco. Just let yourself go in a boys win adventure! Always a good story and wonderfully read by Christian rodska who is, without doubt, the voice of Falco.
The body in the bath house rains a firm favourite.
However, don't buy the ones read by alternative narrators as they simply do not work and you will be unhappy.

Great fun

Lots of different characters thrown in. A good storyline. Irony, funny asides and lots of sub plots. Really enjoyed this and one of my favourites. Would love to hear this adapted for the radio to join some other Falco dramas that the BBC do so well.

Yet another excellent Falco

The story is, as ever, excellent and gripping. The characters are maturing and developing, especially that of Falco as he gets a bit older and wiser. Not as brash and coarse as he was as a raw lad. Normally i don't like this narrator's work and prefer the other main narrator, but he really got to grips with this one and resisted the urge to make the other characters sound like morons. This is definitely my favourite of his narrations so far.

excellent narration of a good book.

love falco and I'm relieved that Christian Rodska is the narrator. he gives falco the street smart, ironic tone which is what's needed to bring it to life. I'm avoiding all the RP voice readers who read other titles. this voice has the grit and the fun needed.

Well worth it!

This is not a never to be forgotten experience but it is well written, well researched, a good story in a well drawn Roman world and that far too unusual thing, very well narrated.
