Story
Over 36 percent of marriages end in divorce–and that’s healthy. When a relationship is no longer working, it’s best for both the adults and the kids if Mom and Dad go their separate ways. Getting divorced is never easy, though, and when you have kids, it gets a whole lot harder. The problem you face is that you’re divorcing your partner–you’re not divorcing your kids–so your extra challenge is going your separate ways while still keeping your parenting team strong.

It’s completely normal in the course of a child’s development to show certain symptoms of defiance and anger, but the line can be easily crossed if you don’t react in time.

Hard to listen to
- By Karen Evans on 03-01-23
Summary
Co-parenting occurs after a divorce when both parents continue to jointly participate in their children’s upbringing. Co-parenting will require a great amount of interaction between both parents. You must be fully committed to maintaining civility and setting aside your differences with your co-parent for the greater good of your children in order to have a healthy co-parenting relationship.
Before you are able to improve your own co-parenting relationship, you will first need to determine which type of relationship you currently have, which type you desire, and if it is possible given your current circumstances. While cooperative co-parenting is considered the gold standard out of the three different types of post-divorce co-parenting relationships, it is not always possible or recommended for a number of different reasons.
Whether your current co-parenting style is parallel parenting, cooperative co-parenting, or conflicted co-parenting, there is always room for improvement. All of the hacks listed in this book aim to allow you to improve your co-parenting relationship.
In 75 Co-Parenting Hacks, we will look at the following:
