Summary

One of the biggest hurdles you'll face as a co-parent is addressing your children's behavior as a united front.... Discover exactly how to do it like experts:

Over 36 percent of marriages end in divorce–and that’s healthy. When a relationship is no longer working, it’s best for both the adults and the kids if Mom and Dad go their separate ways.

Getting divorced is never easy, though, and when you have kids, it gets a whole lot harder. The problem you face is that you’re divorcing your partner–you’re not divorcing your kids–so your extra challenge is going your separate ways while still keeping your parenting team strong.

That’s where co-parenting comes in…and it’s only as difficult as you allow it to be.

With a rising amount of celebrities shining a light on how it can be done (think Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, or Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony), you might wonder if you and your ex have it in you to remain a formidable parenting unit while you’re living two separate lives.

You absolutely do. All you need is the knowledge you have already–that your child’s needs come first…plus some handy strategies to help you navigate the hurdles you’ll bump into along the way.

That’s exactly what you’ll find in this comprehensive guide to co-parenting–complete with essential disciplining strategies for managing those tough moments. Inside, you’ll discover:

  • How to approach your divorce–with a clear idea of where you want to be and how to be the best for your children every step of the way
  • "Divorce grief"–what to expect, and how to navigate it
  • How to start with a clean slate and move forward with positive communication–and why this is so important
  • Boundaries, scheduling, and rules–how to build a fool-proof co-parenting strategy
  • A deeper understanding of what your kids are going through as you and your ex find your way through your divorce
  • Why it’s okay to feel angry–and how to handle it gracefully

Excellent co-parenting guide & second book bonus

A friend shared this book with me and I don't think they realize how much it hit the mark with exactly what my ex-spouse and I want to achieve. We both agreed that we wanted our children to be the focus of our post-marriage relationship, and this helpful guide shared both philosophical and very practical information about how to reach that co-parenting goal. I didn't realize when I first started listening that this audio book includes a second book on how to discipline young children. While my children are in their teens now, the advice for helping children become disciplined is also solid. One thing that could have been helpful is more information about how to deal with attorneys and court orders if necessary when setting up co-parenting arrangements, so that's the only thing I think could be improved. However, it's an excellent guide even without that.

Great Book.

The author has done a wonderful job of simplifying the complex topic of understanding the signs that your kid is going to get angry and how you may best handle the situation by breaking it down into a series of straightforward stages. Sadly, the suggestions provided by my loved ones and close friends did not help me find a solution to the issue but rather made everything much more complicated. This book has been a great resource for me, and I would suggest it to everyone who is co-parenting who is curious in the benefits and drawbacks of this arrangement.

Great information

I found this audiobook to be very useful in providing co parenting and effective discipline strategies. Really breaks down each chapter clearly and goes into practical detail on how to have better parenting skills around your children. The chapter on disciplining your children at different age groups were explained really well.

Fantastic book!

The author has done a great job of breaking things down into simple steps to understand the triggers of when your child is about to get angry and how you can manage the situation. Unfortunately, the advice I received from family and friends did not solve the problems but rather made things worse! I have found this book really useful and would recommend it to anyone co-parenting and want sot to learn the pros and cons of this scenario.

From a divored parent child

This book was really insightful and true to life. I lived through divorced parents and the challenges involved. Custody is always a complicated situation. This book navigates you through the problems and explains the proper way to address difficult situations. The author explains the grief and understanding of the emotional trauma children face during and after a divorce. Scheduling is also an important topic, which the author communicates. You need this book if you are faced with a divorce and children are involved.
