About this listen
No one can take away your pain - but there is something you can do to grow from it.
Each time someone passes away, they leave behind an average of five grieving people.
Grief will affect every single one of us at some point in our lives. It’s an inevitable and natural fact of life, yet it is one of the hardest things we will ever go through.
Grief can be debilitating. It takes us unaware, and it can be so raw and painful that we become unable to function, much less move forward and process our feelings.
If you’ve lost a loved one, you might be struggling with a lack of energy and feelings of guilt, powerlessness, and loneliness. You're not alone, but you probably feel it.
Grief isn’t something we can avoid or bargain our way out of. It’s something we have to go through, and there’s no denying that it hurts like hell. But grief doesn’t have to be our enemy.
When we allow ourselves space to process our pain, we can grow kinder and wiser, and we can use our experiences to help others. We will never forget those we’ve lost, and navigating our grief will be a long journey, but life is not over.
In fact, it’s possible to emerge from grief a stronger, better person.
It’s possible to sidestep grief’s distractions and complications - the things that stop us from processing our pain. Those feelings of lethargy and powerlessness are common, but they’re not inevitable: You just need a road map to help you navigate them.
In 10 Habits for Grief and Loss, you’ll be supported through the grieving process as you come to terms with your loss. You’ll discover:
- Ten habits and mindsets designed to help you not only cope with your loss, but to also emerge stronger
- Psychological research to help you understand your reactions, allowing you to see just how normal your current feelings are as you grieve
- The reason why 40 percent of first-month grievers display symptoms of major depression, and how you can avoid the same fate
- Careful guidance to help you redefine healthy patterns from someone who’s been there themselves
- The reason Prince Harry only sought counseling 20 years after the very public death of his mother - and how to address your grief much more quickly
- How five key people in your life can help you through your grief, and how to figure out who they are
- Why the one thing you probably thought you knew about happiness is wrong
- How to avoid being a "stranded islander", no matter how alone you feel
- Practical tips to help you navigate the physical symptoms of grief (hint: quality sleep is more than possible)
- And much more
If you’ve lost a loved one, you may feel like you’re never going to recover.
As someone who’s lost several of the most important people in his life, Cortez Ranieri knows that feeling, and he has the experience that will help you grow from your pain.
No one can ever take away the love you feel for the person you’ve lost, and your life will never be exactly the same. But your life is not over, and your grief is not in charge.
With a little guidance, you can find the strength to honor what you’ve lost, and come out stronger on the other side.

A nice help for tough times
This book presents some simple but good tips on how to go through tough times. Some were for me a reminder of healthy habits that definitely have a positive impact on the mind, while others were new for me, like journaling. I find immense help from this habit alone, it makes such a difference for my wellbeing.

Healing, Thoughtful, Powerful
My grandfather passed away earlier this year, and due to COVID my family hasn't yet been able to hold a service for him. Coping with his loss has been difficult, especially while trying to take care of matters in my professional life, and at home.
10 Habits for Grief and Loss has helped me work through and process much of the pain and grief I experienced since his passing. It lays out productive ways stay healthy, and identify/listen to the difficult emotions that accompany tough experiences.
I feel like this book could work for anyone going through a difficult time, not necessarily associated with the death of a close one. The narrator is even toned, well paced, and easy to listen to. For anyone looking to get through a rough passage, this audiobook is a wonderful tool. Thank you.

Push through the pain and come out the other side
Grief and depression are both horrible afflictions which can affect anyone. This book offers a practical look at how you can manage both of them, it's a nice change from the cliched self help woo-woo books which often flood the genre.
It emphasizes the need to find others who you can rely on, i think this is a necessity as so much of the times it can be a solo endeavour.
The narrator was great and had the perfect voice for the book. I like to listen at 1.3x speed and their pacing was perfect

Simple yet powerful advice
Simple, but well-written advice and suggestions for those suffering the loss of a loved one. I am really happy I listened to this audio as it eased a lot of pain and struggle. It really gave me a different and fresh perspective on how to handle grief and loss. This audio book also provided scientific research behind journaling for grief, which was super cool to learn. I'm huge on journaling in general to process emotions and feelings, but this piece of information in the book was confirming which I greatly appreciated. While this book is very comprehensive, it's well laid out with an easy to follow approach. I recommend this listen for sure. This is an incredible read that will help you overcome the emotions and feelings of separation, and regain control of your life.
