I've been a children's author for more than 30 years and had over 150 books published. My writing ranges from picture books for the very young to fiction for pre-teens. KNOCK KNOCK, WHO'S THERE? is over 30 years old and still going strong, so I think I can say that it's a classic. As is SHHH! - published in 1991 - which children absolutely adore (especially the giant's eye). It's become a cult book in France and Belgium. It's also just recently sold into China, along with KEEP OUT! and HELP!, all of them illustrated by the very talented Peter Utton. I was enormously proud to win the Nestle Smarties Gold Award for SPILLED WATER, my novel about a Chinese girl sold into domestic slavery, and I'm proud too of my subsequent books about children of the world who lead difficult lives - BROKEN GLASS (a Sunday Times Book of the Week), TORN PAGES and BITTER CHOCOLATE. I've normally got a book or two on the go, and I guess I always will. Back to work now. :) My website is www.sallygrindley.co.uk.
