In a not-so-distant future, Professor Sean Dempsey and his beautiful family are heading on vacation. The means of transportation differ somewhere fifty years from now. In an attempt to dispel nerves, the history of, and science behind, the Shunt is carefully explained by Sean to his young daughter, Ava, in a desperate attempt to help her understand both its miracle—as well as its risks.

Ava is a small girl on a big island. After a storm comes, the adults on the island go a little crazy. They will do whatever they can think of to try to keep the storm from coming back and harming them again. But the things they want to try don't seem to make a lot of sense to Ava or really even work at all ... yet people disregard what's in front of them and double down on their behavior rather than begin to think for themselves. Ava, with the innocence of a child, is the only one who sees the craziness for what it is and asks basic questions. But will anyone listen to her?

Shut in my home due to the government’s tyrannical response to COVID, I did a lot of reading, thinking, and reflection. During this time, I came to admit to myself a lot of dismal truths about the “true” state of humanity, especially when it is pushed to the limits by fear and doubt. In such cases, Man becomes savage and focuses on the differences in his fellow men; he leans into his raw savageness to bifurcate and destroy. He is primal. He is reckless.

A children's tale about two brothers who choose different paths for their life. One chooses to live without risk--hiding away in a hut so as to avoid pain, suffering, heart-ache, disease, and sorrow. The other risks everything in order to LIVE and live well.
