In der von Ironie geprägten Erzählung geht es um den mäßig talentierten Schauspieler Giglio und die Putzmacherin Giacinta, die anfangs in die geheimnisvolle Prinzessin Brambilla beziehungsweise den Prinzen Cornelio Chiaperri verliebt sind. Was Giglio und Giacinta am Ende der Erzählung erkennen, wird hier nicht verraten, aber phantasiebegabte Hörer werden es irgendwann ahnen.
