Save My Thyroid: Healing Tips for Hyperthyroidism and Hashimoto's

By: Dr. Eric Osansky DC IFMCP
  • Summary

  • If you have hyperthyroidism (Graves' disease, toxic multinodular goiter, etc.) or Hashimoto's thyroiditis and are looking to do everything to save your thyroid gland, then the Save My Thyroid podcast is for you! Dr. Eric Osansky DC, IFMCP is the host, as he personally was diagnosed with Graves' disease in 2008 and was able to get into remission taking a natural approach. He created this podcast to help others with hyperthyroidism and Hashimoto's save their thyroid and regain their health. If you have hyperthyroidism then pretty much all of the episodes will benefit you, and if you have Hashimoto's you'll benefit from most of the guest expert episodes, as well as some of the "solo" episodes. The reason there is more of a focus on hyperthyroidism is because all of the other thyroid-related podcasts focus mostly on hypothyroidism/Hashimoto's, and since Dr. Eric personally dealt with Graves' disease he wanted this podcast to focus more on hyperthyroidism, although it will still offer plenty of value to those with hypothyroidism/Hashimoto's. Dr. Eric Osansky lives in Matthews NC with his wife, 2 daughters, 3 cats, 2 dogs, and 3 guinea pigs! He has been a practitioner for 20+ years, and has focused on helping people with thyroid and autoimmune thyroid conditions since 2009.

  • My Graves' Disease Story
    Sep 24 2024

In late 2007, I found myself a little overweight and set out on a mission to lose weight through dieting and detoxing. The plan seemed to be working, and by 2008, I had lost a lot of weight. One day, while walking around a retail store, I decided to check my blood pressure on one of their automated machines. While my blood pressure was normal, my heart rate was elevated. This was my first clue that something was wrong.

In today’s episode, I’m sharing my Graves’ disease story, from how I was diagnosed to the testing I did and the main approaches I used to restore my health. I’m discussing common symptoms, why it’s essential to address the autoimmune nature of the condition, options for conventional and natural treatment, recommended dietary changes, stress management techniques, the significance of personalized care, and more.

This information will help you regardless of whether you were recently diagnosed with Graves’ disease or have been dealing with the condition for many years. Enjoy the episode!

  • Your Thyroid Questions Answered Part 1
    Sep 19 2024

What’s the connection between insulin and thyroid disease? Is high cholesterol in any way a result of low thyroid issues? Does 5G radiation affect the thyroid? How do I know if I have any chance to live normally and without the use of thyroid medication?

Today, I’m back with another Q&A episode, answering multiple questions submitted by the Save My Thyroid community. While I can’t get to everyone’s questions every time, I love creating these for you, and I’ll do similar episodes every couple of months. Please share your questions with me by emailing info@naturalendocrinesolutions.com, and I'll include the most relevant ones in upcoming episodes.

    In this episode, I'm answering:

    • Q1: What’s the connection between insulin and thyroid disease?
    • Q2: My son has complete hair loss, his blood pressure has been elevated, I feel something is off with his kidneys, and he has Hashimoto's. He’s ten years old and was diagnosed at three years old with Hashimoto's. He also has Down syndrome. He is dairy, grain, and soy-free and only eats organic foods. I’ve reduced all the toxins I can think of and taken supplements, but something is still off.
    • Q3: I took the vaccine, and I developed hyperthyroidism and Graves’. I’m on methimazole, one pill, five milligrams a day; my antibodies are 458 and coming down. How do I lower my antibodies now that my T3 and T4 are normal and I want to get off the methimazole?
    • Q4: Can Graves’ cause anhedonia despite steady thyroid hormone levels?
    • Q5: Can low-dose naltrexone (LDN) at 0.05 to 4.5mg help with hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's autoimmune disease?
    • Q6: I would like to discuss why methimazole suppresses TSH and why some people have antibodies for both Hashimoto’s and Graves’.
    • Q7: I've done a 24-hour iodine loading test, which showed 60%, which is below the 90% level, so I’m deficient in iodine. How long should I wait before testing again?
    • Q8: What are your thoughts on taking raw, desiccated glandular supplements?
    • Q9: Last year, my husband, Jeff, diagnosed with hypothyroidism, was taking a daily dose of iodine, approximately 550 micrograms. Should he be completely off iodine?
    • Q10: Does 5G radiation affect the thyroid?
    • Q11: Is high cholesterol in any way a result of low thyroid issues?
    • Q12: How do I know if I have any chance of 100% recovery to live normally and without the use of thyroid medication?
    • Q13: Can Hashimoto's present as Graves’?

As always, I hope you find this episode valuable, and I look forward to catching you in the next episode!
