All the sleepless nights, the hours spent at the gym trying to stay fit, the conditioning, the training, the mental preparation, the holidays missed, the birthdays passed, the memories you didn't get to make with your family...all for what? Five minutes after walking through the door, I hated the sexy Greydon West. I wondered why he’d ever had kids in the first place. The broody, single father of two didn’t know the meaning of the word fun. The only things my regimented, hot-tempered boss seemed to care about were his ridiculous spreadsheets. But for some reason, his prickly, stiff-mannered disposition made me curious about what was hidden beneath that exterior. Then, one day I stumbled upon the key that unlocked the mystery of Dr. West.

Lucky. The one adjective used to describe my entire hockey career. I prefer to call it hard work - at least I did until my game went to complete crap. I haven’t scored in eight games, and the team owner is talking about trading me. I’ve never believed in superstitions. Never needed one. I suppose I was “lucky” in that way. But now the best way to refer to me is desperate. I’d wear the same socks for an entire year just to be the high-scoring center I used to be. Imagine my surprise when after spending New Year’s Eve with a woman, I score a hat trick in the next game.

A Thought Provoking Story
- By L Hayes on 18-10-18
Summary
The USA Today best-selling authors Terri E. Laine and A.M. Hargrove, who brought you Cruel & Beautiful, bring you a new emotionally charged stand-alone contemporary romance. This is a spin-off of the Wilde Players dirty romance series.
Andi:
He was my best friend since we were little. Even though he was off-limits, as we grew up, he became my forever, my everything. But I couldn’t let my selfish dreams hold him back. They say that if you love someone, you should let them go. I did. He became the world’s greatest soccer player. Money. Fame. Beautiful women. He had it all. One thing I never expected was for him to walk back into my life again.
Chase:
She was perfect for me in every way. Once we kissed that first time, there was no turning back. But I made a mistake by letting her go. My need for her has only grown. After three long years, I’ve decided to get her back. Only I’m too late. Someone has taken my place. I don’t know if I still love her or if I should hate her. One thing is certain. She is and always has been mine.

Disappointed
I liked the story but I decided to move on. The narration just ruined the book for me. ITs strictly my opinion but I am not a fan of Savannah Peachwood because her male voice always sounds like an old man and Chris Chappell was more like he was 'reading' than narrating. Narrators can make or break a book for me!

Emotional, and Steamy Second Chance Romance!
omg, what an emotional, and steamy second chance romance! Chase and Andi have been friends since they were kids. They started a secret relationship, not wanting their families to keep them apart if they knew. When Chase has an offer to play soccer professionally out of the country, Andi stays back to finish college. But as time passes, Andi wants to be independant and they soon lose touch. But finally Chase returns to claim the only woman he has loved, only to get blindsided. I really loved Chase and Andi, even when I didn't agree with their decisions and actions, and the depth and strength of their love for each other. There are some very emotional twists to this story that are heartbreaking and had me totally captivated. Narrators Savannah Peachwood, and Chris Chappell are amazing. They are a perfect team, allowing me to feel every emotion and to be totally immersed in this world.

Right in the feels!
Loved this second chance romance! It was great listening as Andi and Chase's relationship finally came together. It was nice that they had to overcome so many real life relationship struggles between each other as well as overcoming difficult circumstances as a couple. There were some very sad and devastating things they had to go through that just hit me right in the feels. Really enjoyed the writing overall and loved these characters and their story!
These two narrators are new to me but they gave a fabulous performance that made this a very pleasant listen. Both gave clear performances with enough voice differentiation and dramatization. I feel like they were excellent choices for these characters and complemented each other well.

I couldn't listen to Chris Chappell
I absolutely love Savannah Peachwood, but Chris Chappell's performance made it impossible to listen to this audio book. He clearly hadn't read ahead and it sounded like the sentences often surprised him because he would put emphasis on the wrong words. He is probably an incredible story-teller, but this is not a child's novel. It was unnerving.

Love, Love, Loved It!!❤️
I absolutely love this Author! This book is very relatable to me and my Hubby of 30yrs. that I cried for her when she thought she was doing him a favor by not putting herself and her dreams first and not take him away from his. I literally lived these actual events but my hubby was a “Football” player 😂 I seriously laughed my ass off when he got his butt handed to him at a sports bar for the semantics of soccer to football. I can’t wait for your next book.. let’s just say that a month ago I took a chance and read 1 book to see if I’d like something new from a different Author, and I literally bought all her books and went thru all of them!!!❤️

DNf with 7 hrs more to go
The narration is bad. Savanna Peachwood is so OTT in her delivery that it's plain irritating. Who speaks in such a drama-mama way in everyday life?
The story is the kind that tells, not shows. So authors tells us the MCs are in love but doesn't show us how. I don't feel their connection, there's hardly any bonding scenes. And for a couple who supposedly loved each other so much, they seriously couldn't even catch up every few months? Unbelievable. We treat casual friends better.
This book makes my eyes roll up. The conflict here is plain miscommunication, such lazy, unimaginative writing. Lastly, heroine characterisation is bad: for someone who desperately wants to know where she comes from, why would she subject her own to a similar absence??
DNF.

Good but not great
This was good story but not great. I didn’t care for the heroine. She made decisions that was based on what she thought was right. I didn’t like that she did not stand up for herself. She allows Chase to make choices based on his needs and wants. She was a heroine that I avoid reading. I love strong, sassy and smart woman. She was not any of that.

Another great book by these authors
So, this book was great! the beginning was frustrating. It starts off with the two characters falling in love, and then going their separate ways, only for the male character to go and try to rekindle their relationship. He sees her with a man and kids and thinks she has a family then just walks away. They then just happen upon each other, and a big secret comes out resulting in him treating her like shit. Neither one of them wants to admit they still love each other so there’s a lot of hate, sadness, and longing going on. This book does a great job in getting the reader to feel what the characters are feeling and the big secret was impossible to guess until like three pages before it actually said what it was, most things I can guess right away, but this had me surprised. The narrations were amazing as well. Savannah Peachwood has a very similar voice to Bailey Carr (another narrator) and I was very confused with the similarities until I realized they were two different people, so if it sounds familiar to you, that’s probably why.
