Summary

From the outside, the prosecution's case looked bulletproof, but Marcia Clark knew better. Mountains of physical evidence connected O. J. Simpson to the murders of Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman, but that didn't mean it would be easy. For the woman charged with prosecuting the "Trial of the Century", the light of fame would glow white hot, as the media scrutinized her strategy, her family, even her hair. As the case spun out of control, Marcia Clark stood tall - a single mother fighting an army of overpaid attorneys and a judge who let the media coverage go to his head. Now she tells her story.

The bloody glove, the botched evidence collection, the LAPD's war with the black community of Los Angeles - Marcia Clark understands every moment of the O. J. Simpson trial like no one else. In this gripping account of her life, her career, and the trial that made her a legend, Clark shows what it truly means to fight for justice.

She had conviction...

Any additional comments?

I came here after being one of the many millennials to experience the trial of O.J. Simpson for the first time through the FX mini-series; American Crime Story: The People vs O.J. Simpson. My reasoning for choosing this book is because of the way in which Marcia Clark was portrayed and treated in the show, I wanted to learn more about her and her story, what better way to do so than to experience her book read aloud in her own voice. This book was an excellent memoir detailing the trials and tribulations (quite literally) of Marcia's life, both during the O.J. circus and in her life leading up to it. That being said, this book is not entirely what I was expecting. I came to this book with the idea that it would be a scathing, 10 chapter rant about the so called 'Dream Team', the media, Judge Ito and the jury, although there were aspects of my assumptions present in her work, Marcia chose to talk openly about how the trial effected her emotionally and physically, personally and professionally. Far from the stone cold bitch she appears when on a roll in the courtroom, Marcia showed herself to be a warm and humble person, a feat that must have been incredibly difficult coming off a time where every aspect of her appearance, personality and behaviour was scrutinised on every news stand across the USA.If you're old enough to remember watching the trial, prepare to relive the experience through the eyes of one of the key players. If, like myself, you're a millennial coming from The People vs O.J, prepare to experience a deeper and unrestricted insight to the backstage happenings of the trial. If you're one of the people who was sceptical or judgmental of any aspect of Marcia Clark, prepare to feel a pang of guilt at your young, uninformed and misguided views.

A must listen!

An incredibly well written (and read) account of the trial of the century. This really shows the dream team’s courtroom showmanship to be just that. If you want the ‘real’ OJ story, listen to what Marcia has to say!

Shame it is not the full version...

This is an abridged version and doesn't explore the full facts relating to the case. An interesting point of view though.

Amazing

I watched lots of ducuments about this trial. But never had idea about overwhelming amount of avidence that was provided. I'm still shocked and very unsettled that he wasn't found guilty! Marcia and Darden did amazing job it was unfortunate that they had this judge and jury..

Interesting point of view

I don’t normally review but I felt I owed it to her for what she went through during the trial.

This book provides insight to evidence that was not allowed during the trial.

A MUST LISTEN for True Crime Fans!

Marcia had one hell of a frustrating job during this whole trial.

Still cannot believe OJ Simpson was never convicted for Nicole and Ron however from Marcia’s account of the case it is no surprise how much terrible corruption and B.S. was going on.

I am a true crime fan and have researched cases, serial killers, evidence and so much for years but this is the one case where I have never seen so much evidence against 1 person that should have been a slam dunk conviction.

What else is there to say apart from this book is absolutely brilliant! You can feel Marcia’s frustration boiling almost felt like at times I was her imagining how I’d react if I were in her shoes.

Draws you and keeps your attention!

Brilliant!

Race card

It must have been extremely frustrating to have really thick jury who didn’t want to understand the evidence and instead they acquired him just because of colour of the skin, thinking he is one of their own.

Excellent book

This was an excellent book from Clark. Both prosecution wrote great books. If anyone wants to know how she performed in the trial, you just need to read Vincent Bugliosi’s book. Especially because in the book she spends a page or two debunking Henry Lee’s testimony although in her final summation she only dedicated one sentence to him, which proved costly, as the jurors believed his testimony.

I found this very helpful in explaining to me how the obvious miscarriage of justice happened.

Muffled noise of speaking in the background

I really enjoyed this book but while listening to it there was noise in the background like people talking in the distance. Made it very distracting when trying to concentrate on the book
