About this listen

The ice is coming. It was the last thing we expected, but the world is freezing. A new ice age has dawned and humanity has been forced to confront its own extinction. Billions have fled the glaciers, crowding out the world’s last habitable zones. They can run from the ice, but they can’t escape human nature: a cataclysmic war is coming.

In orbit, a group of scientists are running the Winter Experiments, a last-ditch attempt to understand why the planet is cooling. None of the climate models they build make sense. But then they discover an anomaly, an unexplained variation in solar radiation...and something else. Close to the burning edge of the sun, they catch a fleeting glimpse of something that shouldn’t be there....

Suddenly humanity must face the possibility it is not alone in the universe. And the terrifying possibility that whatever is out there may be trying to exterminate us.

This started off quite formulaic.
Get more far out and interesting as it goes along.
Lady astronaut character is way off.
She comes over as some sort of 1950’s house wife emotionally.
The “mystery” in this book around main character is not ver mysterious! Had it figured out straight away. And I am pretty slow witted.
BUT I really enjoyed the book. Thanks to all those involved in delivering to my ear holes.

Gets Better as it Goes Along

Nicely written sci-fi with a decent twist that you may see coming (which isn’t as far-fetched as it should be), but this doesn’t take anything away from the momentum building to the very end.

Loved it! Day after tomorrow meets war of the worlds

This was my first (and last) “outing” with A.G.Riddle, Not at all like I expected… I thought this was going to tell a story of an apocalyptic, catastrophic event, told from a survivor’s/victim’s point of view but sadly (for me) it read like an astronaut s handbook! Approximately 85 percent of the story is set in space, from a space station/rocket location. It’s not a bad book per se but not good enough, for me, to grab a second helping of this author’s work.

Not what I expected!

Read it for "free" on the plus catalogue and would have still been satisfied by the experience if I'd spent a credit on it.

enjoyable

Movie moves along quickly.. not too over the top sci-fi elements.. bit of a predictable love story in there but not too lovey dovey either. Will move on to the rest of the trilogy now.

Decent fast paced story

Good story, great narration and charming characters.

I didnt know what to expect but I went through this one in a flash getting quite invested in the story.
I didn’t care too much for the inner monologues of the two main characters when they discussed their feelings for each other but it did add a new nuance to the story which I over all ended up enjoying. The scientific aspects were not too deep but still tickled my “science” itch and the I quite enjoyed the story all the way through.
The performance was on point all way through too.
So it’s a 5/5 for me

Interesting story and concept

First half to 3/4 was excellent, then it dragged so much I almost stopped. Needed a firm editing. Narration was great, plot good on many levels.

This was a real mix,

This book was so much more than the synopsis initially led me to believe. there is Sci-fi, political intrigue, human struggles and plenty of feel good moments. Supurb narration too. I highly recommend this Audi book.

Absolutely gripping!
