Summary

The ice is coming. It was the last thing we expected, but the world is freezing. A new ice age has dawned and humanity has been forced to confront its own extinction. Billions have fled the glaciers, crowding out the world’s last habitable zones. They can run from the ice, but they can’t escape human nature: a cataclysmic war is coming.

In orbit, a group of scientists are running the Winter Experiments, a last-ditch attempt to understand why the planet is cooling. None of the climate models they build make sense. But then they discover an anomaly, an unexplained variation in solar radiation...and something else. Close to the burning edge of the sun, they catch a fleeting glimpse of something that shouldn’t be there....

Suddenly humanity must face the possibility it is not alone in the universe. And the terrifying possibility that whatever is out there may be trying to exterminate us.

Interesting story and concept

I didnt know what to expect but I went through this one in a flash getting quite invested in the story.
I didn’t care too much for the inner monologues of the two main characters when they discussed their feelings for each other but it did add a new nuance to the story which I over all ended up enjoying. The scientific aspects were not too deep but still tickled my “science” itch and the I quite enjoyed the story all the way through.
The performance was on point all way through too.
So it’s a 5/5 for me

A really enjoyable listen for me

Not as far out there as some space based sci-fi stories are. Enough details to keep me interested and the way the story is told from one characters point to the other worked really well.

Original and very clever

Winter World opens up an interesting new angle for me by combining Space Opera with an environmental theme. As the earth is dying from cold due to lack of sunlight the source of the problem is identified as alien. The heroes set-off with track down and solve the problem before it's too late.
Well written, clever and original.

Absolutely gripping!

This book was so much more than the synopsis initially led me to believe. there is Sci-fi, political intrigue, human struggles and plenty of feel good moments. Supurb narration too. I highly recommend this Audi book.

Accessible and interesting story

I do enjoy a story by A G Riddle it works and it is very accessible sci-fi. The narration for this really works I like the two characters.
What I didnt like but understand it is the plot points is how the female character was written - she starts off so strong but then I want to shake her. I could say more but will spoil the story.

Anyway it didnt put me off as have got straight onto book 2.
I am glad I listened to it and it was on audible plus
