About this listen
‘Powerful and thoughtful’ Don McRae, Guardian
‘A fascinating and incredibly honest insight into the pressurised life of an elite athlete, on and off the pitch’ Piers Morgan
RAW. REVEALING. REFLECTIVE. The candid autobiography.
This audio edition includes an exclusive in-conversation interview with Danny as he reflects on his life and career
Danny Cipriani has always been searching for something. On the pitch, it was a line-break or space. A chink of light to dart through. An angle that no one else could see. Off the pitch, it was seeking a path through the pressure, fame and chaos that came with being anointed the ‘Saviour of English Rugby’.
Who Am I? is the raw and powerful memoir of a man of mercurial talent who, with the world at his feet, made his England rugby debut aged 20. A man who, just a year later, contemplated suicide. A man whose safe space was on the field, away from the drink, the women and the drugs he turned to in an attempt to escape his thoughts.
Now, for the first time, one of the most compelling personalities in the sport reflects on who he was, where he’s come from and the man he’s become. Alongside his astute insight into playing under Martin Johnson, Stuart Lancaster and Eddie Jones, Danny also talks about chasing his dreams, his desire and passion to represent England, and his drive to become the best player he could be.
This is the story of a once complicated man. A man searching for answers. A man trying to understand who he is.

Enlightening and inspiring
As a long suffering Welsh rugby fan, I’ve been brainwashed to think the worst of England rugby players, but after hearing Danny on the Big Jim podcast, I thought I’d give this a try.
I’m so glad I did. Danny’s story is moving and inspiring, and his words of wisdom really hit the mark. The overriding message of living authentically and using your inner voice as your guide is so needed in this world of distractions and superficial goals.
I’m no stranger to this journey - as a recovering alcoholic (sober 10 years) I’ve had to use pain to grow and survive. But messengers like Danny are needed to remind people me what’s important. This book really did that.
Thanks Danny - keep up the good work
Ps the superficial Welsh rugby fan in me is glad you didn’t play for England more!

Inspiring self-reflction on how it's been, why and how it is going to be
Both the book and the interview are inspiring. I really enjoyed Danny's narrative of his interaction with the English rugby world and the parts it played positively and negatively in his life. He doesn't hold back on his opinions of how English rugby could be so much better and it is difficult to argue that from his analysis: creativity, individuality, and honesty is key. It is really heartening to see how much Danny's changed life philosophy has created an inner piece from which he is platforming his life going forward,

Great listen
Great book by one of the most talented England players who’s talent was criminally wasted by the rfu.
