About this listen

Experience the pulse-pounding new thriller from multi-million selling Scottish crime fiction author, JD Kirk.

Community service clean-up was supposed to be a tedious affair. But, when a young offender stumbles upon a bin bag filled with human remains, a quiet Highland village is thrown into chaos.

The investigation leads DCI Jack Logan to a remote and nightmarish cottage, where a forgotten freezer holds a disturbing discovery: a full set of human fingers.

As more body parts are uncovered, Logan and his team hunt for a killer with a gruesome obsession for collecting trophies.

Across the vast Highlands, where secrets run as deep as the lochs, the team must piece together a jigsaw puzzle of horror that's as fragmented as the remains they've found.

But how do you solve a jigsaw when you can’t see the picture on the box?

Where the Pieces Lie is the 19th explosive novel from number one bestselling Scottish crime author, JD Kirk, perfect for fans of Ian Rankin, Chris Brookmyre, and Val McDermid.

Angus King and JD Kirk - a match made in Heaven - or Police Scotland.

The story was excellent, keep you on the edge of your seat stuff. The usual characters were a pleasure to be reacquainted with - I just love them all - Boy Band, Sinead, Hamza, Dave, Logan, Taggart, Shona the hilarious Irish pathologist, and of course Hoon both Mr Bob and Berta! The storyline with the pathology assistant Neville was incredibly funny - and I didn’t see that coming (if you will pardon the pun!) - if that bit had been narrated by anyone other than Angus King it would not have been nearly so funny.

A bit like another reviewer, I was disappointed there was no proper ending, I thought we were finished a few times only to realise I still had loads of listening time left - what a bonus - but when the end came, it was too soon, That said, it was still five stars. I hope you (JD Kirk - Barry?!) are writing fast and furiously right now as I need the next instalment.

Last comment - isn’t human nature so strange that a bag full of human body parts is not nearly so horrifying as the prospect of a bag of puppies!

Another excellent story brilliantly narrated.

After finding the previous episode in the DCI Jack Logan series lacking. I’m glad to say JD Kirk is back on full form with this latest instalment.

The team are tested after finding an array of different body parts. They very soon have a number of potential suspects but you have to wait until the end of the story to find out who did it.

Angus King as always brings all the characters to life.

I enjoyed this episode so much that I listened to it in record time. I’m now hoping the next episode in the series is just as good.

The story grabbed me from the start and never let go. The twists were great but the characters really make this series. I loved that Hoon was included. I got through this book way to quickly and now wait for the next!

As good if not better than all!

A fantastic book in the Logan series. So many elements that made me laugh out loud, from the sniffing surgeon to the scene in the mortuary .. yes, that one! Also a welcome return of Hoon and Bertha, a weapons grade pain in the (insert word), fabulous

I’ve already read it twice!
