Summary
Miss Marple meets Oscar Wilde in this series of cosy mysteries set in the picturesque Cotswolds village of Bunburry.
The picturesque Cotswolds village of Bunburry has been rocked by a series of burglaries, with dark suspicions over who is responsible. A discovery at the scene of the crime in the home of Bunburry's favourite senior citizens, Liz and Marge, leads amateur sleuth Alfie to fear the worst. He decides that this time, the matter should be left to the proper authorities. But with Constable Emma Hollis on sick leave, and Sergeant Harold Wilson as work-shy as ever, some of the villagers have other ideas...
Nathaniel Parker, born in 1962, graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and went on to join the Royal Shakespeare Company. His television career began in 1988 when he played Flying Officer "Flash" Gordon in the LWT mini-series Piece of Cake. He is also the lead in the BBC series The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, based on the novels by Elizabeth George. Nathaniel Parker has an extensive list of audio books to his credit, ranging from the classics of Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy to more modern writings and children's books.

Wow, that escalated quickly!
I adore The Bunburry Mysteries and the characters. Nathaniel Parker is an absolute pleasure to listen to his performance is wonderful. The story was interesting and very manic in a way. Alfie is a lovely bloke but can't catch a break. As a guy who is also in his 40's I do sometimes feel like Alfie is very immature and naive. There were a number of times in this book when I just thought, you complete idiot Alfie. He needs to sort out his love life and frankly it's been 14 books and it's a tragedy... Tragedy when the feelings gone...

Okay….
Love these normally, but agree with others..this was leaning to romantic, and leant a bit too far for me.
Nathaniel brilliant as always, but story weak as a mystery..

Mystery Novel???
The Bunburry books are a quaint little cozy mystery series with likable characters. But this latest entry is no mystery at all. Its sole purpose is to further the romance between Alfie and Emma--well, further it a teeny bit. I do hope the romance does not continue to overtake the mysteries. And it would be nice if the romance weren't so formulaic. Mystery readers like to be surprised. Romance readers don't. The two genres just don't seem all that compatible to me. If you just want to check in with your favorite Bunburry characters, this book will serve. If you want a murder mystery--or any mystery at all--you won't find it here.

Wonderful if you love the characters
While it may not be a brilliant mystery, the ongoing relationships with all the characters make this another fun edition to the village of Bunburry. As always, Nathanie Parker brings the story alive. On to fifteen.

Nice next installment
This may be a bit more drama than mystery but there was character development and I was happy to have the next book after a wait. Enjoy!

Seems shorter than normal
I agree with the other reviewers, although I dearly love alll the characters in this series, this story line was lacking! No substance! I. Love this narrators voice and his take on all the characters personalities!

Hit and miss
I love the Bunburry mysteries and the gossiping villagers but unfortunately this story has lessened the love. The story line was predictable and the whole story felt like it lacked substance, more a literature piece for teacher than a published story.
Nathaniel Parker is also usually spot on with his voices but there were a few changes and slips that I have never noticed in previous audiobooks which I regularly re-listen to.
I hope that the next installment returns to the delightful storytelling that we enjoy. I shall press on with fingers crossed.

This is more romance
The story was weak. It really just furthers the romance of two characters. Not my favorite and I’m getting tired of the formula.
I usually really like these little books.

Disappointed
I was looking forward to listening to this next mystery in the Bunbury series; but this plot was disappointing. The mystery aspect was really lacking. Liz and Marge were hardly in this story.
Personally I’m not fond of a romance between
Alfie and Emma.
