Nicci French what to do when someone dies

I have not read or listened to any Nicci French before but thoroughly enjoyed this. At first I was a little unsure of the Narrators voice but as the story unfolded I thought it really suited the story. I was gripped from the minute I put it on was not disappointed with the ending!

Good Plotting

I did not have a great deal of expectations when deciding to listen to this novel. In fact, I generally find Nicci French books to be rather too full of plot holes and absolutely stupid heroines. Against all my expectations, I did enjoy listening to this book, couldn't work out who was the villain and was kept guessing almost to the end. Recommended.

Many twists and turns kept me listening

I've listened to two and read another of the Nicci French books. Latterly I've discovered that it's a husband and wife writing team. I've enjoyed them all, but have to say the savagery of the descriptions of murder and torture in them did rather give me the creeps. In contrast, "What to Do when Someone Dies" is much more of a thriller in the same sort of style as Robert Goddard. There is some murder in it but there are no gory descriptions. Instead it's mainly a widow's quest to find the truth over how here husband died. The authors' write sensitively about what it's like to lose someone you love and how it feels if you fear that person was deceiving you. The story is a real roller-coaster of clues and false leads and I certainly didn't see how it would end and couldn't stop listening to find out what happened next. Highly recommended.

Sad but delightful story

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Lots of twists and turns, did guess who the killer was earlier in the book but was wrong about the reasoning behind it. I found it very realistic, a wife trying to prove her faith in her husband and those around her trying to guide her gently away from the seemingly truth.
Not usually my sort of book but I’m glad I chose it. I loved the narrator, wonderfully portrayed the wife’s dilemma.

Not the best title by this author but it was ok………

4 stars overall.
Enjoyed to a degree but felt it was a bit slow in places. I worked out the ending too before the ending came near. I like this author very much having listened to a few other titles by her but this was not her best. It needed something else in the middle of it to keep it going. I listened to this over 3 days which I’m glad I did but like I say,not my fav book out of all the many titles the author has wrote. The narration was very good though and probably saved this book.
