About this listen
A CHILLING NORFOLK BROADS CRIME THRILLER!
A convicted psychopath with an early release, a couple found butchered on board their boat, and a twelve-year-old boy, hiding in fear or already lying dead.
Struggling with his new role as a detective chief inspector, John Tanner is warned of a convicted psychopath’s early release. When a couple is found later that day; the man stabbed to death, the woman with her throat cut, he's forced to assume the convict is responsible. But when the male victim turns out to be heir to a global pharmaceutical company, and his twelve-year-old son is nowhere to be found, he has to start looking closer at the victim’s family, and their sprawling stately ancestral home.
Set within the mysterious beauty of the Norfolk Broads, this fast-paced British detective series is a dark cozy Norfolk murder mystery with a slice of humour and a touch of romance, one that will have you guessing until the very end, when the last shocking twist is finally revealed.

A Good Story but
it is a such a shame that all the female characters sound like Julian Clary.

Great story, well read
A story with twists to the end, I really enjoyed it. The reader was excellent too.

Oh wow.
What a brilliant story. Full of tense did he or didn’t he and twists and turns. I was laughing a lot of the time at the brilliant one-liners from the characters. Hope there are going to be many more John Tanner stories

Well-narrated
Tanner is so quick to anger I am surprised he hasn’t been murdered by his staff. Good plot but irritating characters.

Lacking character
Did not enjoy this plot as much as previous ones by Mr Blake. There was not the same atmosphere and the characters were somewhat unconvincing. However, I do now know where Weavers Way is.

Struggling to continue
I agree with a previous reviewer - the language used to describe women is abysmal. There are no references to women that I can think of at all without some description of their level of sexual attractiveness. It is absolutely unnecessary and over the top; both author and editor should have a long talk with themselves.

Great narration
However, I have to agree with other reviewers…way too many sexualising comments about women. It was cheap and nasty and not at all warranted or funny. Spoiled a good story and great narration.

More like a Carry On Film in parts
I'm glad it's the last in the series, at the time of writing, as I'm not sure I would continue with the series. It was more like a Carry On film in places with the continuous innuendo & admiration of the female body. I am also critical on the way Tanner is & how he behaves very unprofessional & incompetent in many ways. I don't think I would have got this far without the excellent narration of Jonathan Keeble.

Excellent series
This has been an excellent series but as others have said anyone in the police behaving In such a sexist manner ought to have been disciplined. That aside I enjoyed the book especially with Jonathan Keeble’s excellent narration. He could read the menu and make it sound exciting
