Summary

I already knew he was a psychopath. But now?

He’s more dangerous than ever.

And I have less than 24 hours to stop him.

After escaping Lengard and finding sanctuary with the Remnants, Alyssa Scott is desperate to save those she left behind - and the rest of the world - from the power-hungry scientist Kendall Vanik. But secrets and lies block her at every turn, and soon Lyss is questioning everything she has ever believed.

When long-lost memories begin to surface and the mysteries of her past continue to grow, Lyss battles to retain her hard-won control. Allies become enemies and enemies become allies, leaving her certain about only two things: when it comes to Speakers, nothing is ever as it seems...and the only person she can trust is herself.

Beautiful story

Great storyline, something completely different but so captivating. The characters are very real and despite its fantasy nature it’s believable.
Descriptive enough to create the pictures in your mind as you listen to the story but enough freedom to allow you your own spin on it.
I was sad that this was only two books and that the story wasn’t longer, so immersed I was in it.
The narrators voice is soft and calming throughout even in the dramatic scenes, allowing you to go along with the story at its pace and feel completely wrapped within the story.
Thank you

left wanting more

Thoroughly enjoyed this book and even though it finished at a reasonable place I was definitely left wanting more. I'd love to see what happens next.

Book 2

Equally as fantastic as the first. Definitely recommend as one of my most enjoyable stories.
Narrator is very skilled. No confusion over each character as she easily glides through these books. Loved it and simply couldn't put it down!

This needs to be a movie

loved this book. it would make such a good movie. I would say it is up there with the divergent and hunger games series.

A bit blah

As the second in the series this book starts exactly where the first ended. I like that in a series. However, on balance I didn't like this book much. Yes the questions were answered and it all made sense finally but the main character was a bit dim not to put it together much much quicker- it was glaringly obvious. Added to the complete predictability of the situation (past and present) the use of repetition began to annoy me, repeating a single word several times for emphasis is fine in a book but it was definately overused and it irked. Overall I suppose both books taken together are okay, but I feel like it was a bit if a waste of time that could have been spent listening to a decent story instead.

Not a thriller

Selected this and the “Whisper” as they were described as thrillers. They weren’t, they are young adult, I’d say pre to very early teens so I’m not the target audience.

The were free so I did listen to both. This one was more cliched than the first, with literal repetition which was annoying. As I say, I’m not the target audience. This also felt like it was being written for the screen not a book lover.

As it was written for children I decided to be aware of that whilst listening and I felt that some things like calling the lead character “princess”, the reason for which is explained, was demeaning and girls don’t need to hear that. Much of it was to me, giving the message don’t worry your pretty little head about that, leave it to the big strong guys, we’ll catch you when you fall! When the main character was actually the strongest of them all, a child might not notice that with the other messages being given at the same time.

To the little girls I love, “girls rock” and you be you.
