This was amazing!
I really enjoyed this fast paced and gripping story.
It really made you understand what all the characters are like and made them seem more realistic. I think that this is the audiobook in the series (so far).

Slightly better than the last, but still not great
I feel that this is where the series was supposed to start, and the first two books were just introduction of the other characters. meeting up with a Rogue Trader really opens up the options for where this story may get good. The main characters were also slightly less annoying than the previous two books, but they were still annoying. Overall, this was the best in the series, but I still don't think I would recommend it to people. I got several of them on sale, so I will listen to the next one as well, but then I am probably done with the series.

Good writing, Bad Portrayal.
This story does a surprisingly good job of reconciling the grim dark future of 40k with the approachability necessary for a story geared towards younger readers.
However, I will say that the portrayal of various elements of the well known franchise's universe leaves much to be desired.
our protagonists infrequently read as blatant mary-sues, able to overcome frankly ridiculous odds by no other virtue than plot armor, and if you have any love for the Tau faction featured herein, at all, you may not like the offerings of this book's plot at all.
i know I surely didn't.

Good story but a missed opportunity
I like the continued adventures of zelia and her companions but I kind of wish this story had taken an opportunity to address the garbage attitude the imperium has towards aliens. This could have been an opportunity to make a comment about the imperium's racism. Instead the T'au are manipulative villains. We don't see much of T'au society, just a criminal and the overly aggressive military. I like the story though.
