Summary

In the mist-shrouded haze of the past, long before the beginning of recorded time, there stood the world of Azeroth. Every kind of magical being strode the countryside among the tribes of man, and all was at peace - until the arrival of the demons and horrors of the Burning Legion and their baneful Lord Sargeras, dark god of chaotic magic. Now Dragons, Dwarves, Elves, Goblins, Humans, and Orcs all vie for supremacy across the scattered kingdoms - part of a grand, malevolent scheme that will determine the fate of the world of The Guardians of Tirisfal: a line of champions imbued with godlike powers, each one through the ages charged with fighting a lonely secret war against the Burning Legion.

Medivh was fated from birth to become the greatest and most powerful of this noble order. But from the beginning a darkness tainted his soul, corrupting his innocence and turning to evil the powers that should have fought for good. Torn by two destinies, Medivh's struggle against the malice within him became one with the fate of Azeroth itself...and changed the world forever.

A Magical Experience ;)

Grubb's engaging prose and Ocampo's enthused narration provide a sensational, riveting, funny, and tragic story of Medivh and Khadgar.

The years have made me indifferent to Warcraft, but novels like this take me right back to the best days of that lore. I even shed a tear.

Great story, and great performances

The story about Khadgar and the Guardian of Tirisfal is an important story. It's a sad story too. And Ramon tells it so well. With his voices and different characters. Just awesome!

Great story.

Love Lothar character, the young Khadgar curiosity and the conflicted Medivh.
So sad to find out how Khadgar got his old form.

good but not the best

Both the story and performance were good but it wasn't as good as the other Warcraft novels that I've read so in comparison it's not as good but on its own it's a good book and definitely worth the read.

Great awesome book

This is the first book I’ve been able to finish. The narrator is really good and well I’m a hardcore wow fan but you don’t have to be to enjoy the story. I can definitely recommend this to everyone. I loved this one very much. It shed some light on a character I knew little about.

Don't get the audio.Go for physical/kindle version

This book starts SLOWLY. Eventually it picks up the pace but it drags out too much on details that, generally speaking, the writer includes to immerse the reader to the story. Even though that is a solid plan for physical books/ebooks that you dive in undistracted, I find it doesn't work quite as well on audio books where people are multitasking (usually). Among all these details, I've had a hard time concentrating on the story, while I was either driving or working. A problem that I didn't have on Christie Golden's audio book "rise of the horde". Therefor I assume the writing of this book wasn't made with an audio book version in mind. Apart from that I really enjoyed the narration and the voice was matching the content.

Written by someone with no interest of the topic.

Didn't finish. Writer had little to no knowledge of the standing lore. Things like "Forces from Lorderon and Azeroth". Azeroth is the name of the world, not a separate kingdom, it's a small detail but for fans of the subject it is pretty annoying. Those hoping for a more in-depth look into Medivh will be disappointed.

Great Book; Great Reader

He did the voices, he pronounced the names right. He even had an adventure sound as he read the credits. 👍

Great story in well narrated!

love that the story finally came to audiobooks would highly recommend is a great story and Ramon De Ocampo does a great job with the read. I never realized just how much the movie changed the story. In the end I still enjoyed both versions the movie and the book lore, the book just makes more sense to what I know from the game.

Great lore

I've been getting into the beginning lore and this is great to see old characters act when they are introduced. Young Trust is fantastic and to see his accomplishments in game makes it much better.

A solid untold story of Med and Khadgar

Didn’t know how this story was going to develop but loved the take on Medivh and his sacrifice/inner strife. Respected the lore of WoW well and the action felt true. Definitely a staple for those reading these novels
