Summary
The Shadowmaster is back... whether you wanted him to be or not!
Jackson Blackwell, The Shadowmaster, is in over his head this time. After his last adventure, where he tore fantasy novels a new one, Jackson has to deal with the repercussions of angry gods, angrier conspirators, and the wrath of his pregnant girlfriend!
(I know... actual consequences in a comedy/action series? How avant-garde! - I think. Okay look, I really don't know what that means. I've always just wanted to say it and I'm too lazy to look it up.)
Thanks to a godly decree and a crafty clause, Jackson has been banished from his home. And the only universe kindly enough to take him in is one infested with comic-book-style superheroes and supervillains. A perfect place to cause mayhem, right? Well, it wouldn't be much of a book if it were.
Comics don't play by the rules, and Jackson has been tasked to do something unique. Whatever is a villain to do?
Follow the adventure of Jackson Blackwell as he attempts to manipulate his way back to the top while dealing with all manner of dark detectives, godly aliens, expensive power suits, and the most daunting challenge of all... looming parenthood.

I am the Shadowmaster, fear me!!
Jackson Blackwell, The Shadowmaster, is again up to to his neck in trouble, as he ends up exiled from his own dimension to the comic realm. Good follow up to book one, with Jackson at his evil cunning best.
Well narrated by Jeffrey Kafer, as he is also drawn into the story.

help is needed
so it would seem this superior villain is in a series of highly abusive relationships with women and could seriously use a therapist

Easy fun
Good fun, easy listening, great tonic if you've just listened to something heavy going. Annoying repetition of phrases like "Gods above and below" every other paragraph (not an exaggeration) and the main character vocalising "SIGH" really grate.

GOOD BOOK
I have over 300 audible titles and I have to say that the narration and performance of this book is one of the best I've heard. It's a compelling universe with a great story and awesome characters

It's self aware and I love it.
The narration is on point. The tropes are once again scrutinised and filltered through parody. This is a good sequel I can't wait to read the next book then no doubt listen to it.

Made me laugh out loud.
Really regional story, I just couldn't stop listening. I was absolutely gutted to discover the third installment wasn't available yet.

A superior sequel
Easily more entertaining than the first book and with some hilarious fourth wall breaking sections near the end, Villians Pride is a fun improvement on the previous installment in the Shadowmaster series. Highly recommended to anyone who likes comic books and comedy.

laughed myself into tears
the second installment of the Shadow Master is as hilarious and formulaic as the first. people who gave the first book five stars really like the author and were in no way paid off. this book is the example of the overall quality of independent writing. As someone who consumes over 300 doughnuts a year, my eye for excellence is sharp and this story if you can call it that delivers on every fundamental level delivering character development and depth while going for cheap jokes causing laughter all through the Meandering plot the book consists of scene set up all about one amazing joke after another and repeated for over 40 chapters. the protagonist a villain named Jackson is little more than an antihero and clearly the authors wish fulfillment put to paper the entire book feels like an excuse for the author to put to page the thoughts that I have in my mind everyday think of it as a published work of comical art but with more stupidity and laughter full of edginess and a lot of sounding cool. while I appreciated the laughs provided there is little else to really enjoy in this book except the two dimensional characters repeated scenes and blatant rip off of archetypes. in summation unless you're a fan of the insipid vapid brain candy that is Indie books these days defiantly buy this book for a plane ride, a long drive and don't wait till it's on sale... the ending is brilliantly hilarious, I must have looked quite ridiculous rolling down the interstate laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes..
oh yeah and the narrator does an amazing job of conveying the humor and different characters... including himself 😉

Hilarious!
I loved book 1 of this and eagerly dived into it when I got it. Now I didn't absolutely love this one as much as the first because I felt like the first half of the book was a little slow, but it's still worthy of 5 stars for it's entertainment value!! In this one, Jackson Blackwell is preparing for fatherhood, but he ends up getting banished from his home and his world, and the only world that will take him is one filled with comic book heroes and villains. Jackson has been tasked with doing something "unique", and of course he rises to the challenge.
Jackson Blackwell is such a fun character to read!! I don't particularly like him but he is so much fun! He is well developed and written and it shows how good the author is at writing characters because he is basically an a..hole, yet you can't help but root for him.
The plot of this one was intriguing (when it finally got there) The dimension the story takes place in was awesome!! It's filled with superheroes and of course, Jackson has a plan for them. While it did drag for the first half of the book, when it finally got going, it really took off!! There were so many twists and turns that it made up for the lackluster start.
In all, this was a fun, laugh out loud and entertaining read. I love how the author pokes fun at so many things, from book sequels, to reviewers, and even the narrator!! It made me laugh a lot, which made the book a winner in my opinion.
Jeffrey Kafer is one of the best in the business, and to hear him poke fun of himself was awesome!! His performance here was flawless and he brought Jackson to life. I highly recommend his work!!
I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.

As a prodigious reader...
This book deserves 5 stars. If for no other reason then because the author makes the narrator admit he has a penguin penis.
M.K. Gibson, or whomever it is, does a fantastic job. A solid three stars. ;-)
Kafer knocks it it is the park as usual.
Next in the series please. ASAP.

Bad Guys can finally win
This book is, from start to finish, about bad people beating goodie-two-shoes types without any qualms. Shadowmaster, is the evil genius who knows just how to play the heroes against themselves, and win out like a real villain should.
That is half the fun, watching the black hats beat the capes. This is the follow up to Villains Rule, and as hard as it is to believe, it is even better than the first book. One of my favorite pieces came from listening to the sample. There is no sample, just Shadowmaster telling to to buy the book! Toooo Funny. That is the nature of this beast, humor to a point you might have to go to the hospital frm when you split your side open from laughing so hard.
Kafer just absolutely nails the narration, and his doing Shadowmaster is like Will Farrell doing Mastermind. You won't want to stop listening. He really has great comedic timing, and voice inflection, so give the man a round of applause. I did receive a promo code to review this book, but that has no bearing on my opinion of this book. The books is solid stuff, and deserving of your money.
Get it, read it, love it.

Smart, witty and fun
Can't say enough good. The villain in this book is awesome. He goes off into rants that are not only funny, but absolutely true. His schemes are convoluted, his humor is twisted. I CAN'T wait for the next book in this series.
