About this listen

A story about the hunger for food, life, and opportunity.

After stealing a loaf of bread, Edward was running to escape when he slammed into Dorothy. In that moment, fate intervened, and a love began that would span the years.

Desperate to make a better life for himself and be a man worthy of Dorothy, Edward takes a job in the mines. When catastrophe strikes, he finds his world in a state of upheaval once more.

But his isn’t the only future at stake. War is looming and the desire to stand for his country is staring Edward in the face. In the midst of battle, surrounded by pain and suffering, it’s his love of Dorothy that keeps him fighting.

Will he find his way back to her, under their favorite sycamore tree? Or will his hunger to be a better man end in tragedy?

From author James Keith comes, Under the Sycamore Tree, a gripping tale of life, love, and hope.

Harsh Reality

This story of young love during a difficult time is captured superbly by James. This is not a traditional romance story but one of pure brutal realism and heartache. I love how the emotion is captured by James and a wonderful abs outstanding performance by Bonnie.

Very heart warming

This story is haunting and so hard to listen to. I was teary eyed a few times and was forced to put it down a few times. But it was a really good story that gives you a lot to think about.

Brutal realism

This is not a hearts and flowers kind of book. It emphasises the hardships of living in a world with war. The Emotion captured by James is fantastic however I did find it a bit repetitive. Great performance from Bonnie.
