Summary

Turn a Blind Eye is the third instalment in the gripping story of Detective Inspector William Warwick, by the master storyteller and Sunday Times number one best-selling author of the Clifton Chronicles.

William Warwick, now a Detective Inspector, is tasked with a dangerous new line of work, to go undercover and expose crime of another kind: corruption at the heart of the Metropolitan Police Force. His team is focused on following Detective Jerry Summers, a young officer whose lifestyle appears to exceed his income. But as a personal relationship develops with a member of William’s team, it threatens to compromise the whole investigation.

Meanwhile, a notorious drug baron goes on trial, with the prosecution case led by William’s father and sister. And William’s wife Beth, now a mother to twins, renews an old acquaintance who appears to have turned over a new leaf, or has she?

As the undercover officers start to draw the threads together, William realises that the corruption may go deeper still, and more of his colleagues than he first thought might be willing to turn a blind eye.

Repeat of previous book

this book gave me the impression the author is using a template in his books and offering the occasional differences, i do hope the next book is not another clone ,for me the last few chapters made it readable

Nice easy listen with a good story line

Very enjoyable listen. Great for commutes - Nothing too complicated, yet compelling and grips the attention nonetheless. I really enjoy George Blagdens’ characterisations and feel like I know the characters well now as a result.

An engaging story with a weak ending

I greatly enjoyed the first two books in this series and downloaded this soon after listening to both. This third part is a continuation of cases and characters that feature in the earlier novels and, while also cleverly plotted, I found that having listened to all three close together in time I was struck by how some of the same red herrings and plot twists were re-used. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the book but was surprised that a major piece of evidence that would have been crucial in the case wasn't used in the prosecutions final speech and that a convenient and unconvincing last minute intervention was used to clinch the outcome: a lazy and weak way to end a story.
The narrator is excellent.
