Easy to Understand and Very Useful

My scientific alert/psychiatric carrier canine exceeded away a month ago. I ordered this e book so I can teach my new provider canine due to the fact it has been so many years considering that I skilled Spunky that a lot of the little small print are challenging for me to remember. It has all types of data from how to socialize and teach a domestic dog to work up to precise tasks.

Great starting point for new trainers/ handlers

I was given this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I think this would be a good starting point for people that are wanting to train their own service dog. It’s not extremely detailed in exactly his to train but a nice overall approach to what needs to be done.

There is a few steps that this book goes over. Step one being to find and acknowledge the right breed for what you want in a SD and in a companion. I really like how they touched upon making sure to look into a reputable breeder. I wish there would’ve been more info on how to find them, making first contact with them, and what exactly makes a breeder reputable, etc. Would’ve made it easier for people new to the dog world to know what to look for. The next step they talk about is after you get the puppy and start on the basic commands for a pet. Such as their name, sit, down, heel, and come. They touch upon clicker use in this section but don’t really explain how you use it correctly. The step after that is building on the basics. And the last is to specialize the dogs training to what you need in a service dog. They go over the different types of SDs, people that can help you learn to advocate for yourself and your dog, etc. Very well done.

I wish there was talk about dogs being washed out. Sometimes no matter what you do the dog you’re working with might not ever get to the point of being a service dog. Not matter how much you want it or how hard you work.

Overall this was a nicely done book. I enjoyed the audio, very clear and easy to understand.
