Summary

The twelve-year rampage of "Missoula Mauler" Wayne Nance - and the shocking end to his murder spree

To his neighbors, Wayne Nance, a furniture mover from Missoula, Montana, appeared to be an affable, considerate, and trustworthy guy. No one knew that Nance was the "Missoula Mauler," a psychopath responsible for a series of sadistic sex slayings that rocked the idyllic town between 1974 and 1986.

Nance's only requirement for murder was accessibility - a preacher's wife, a teenage runaway, a female acquaintance, a married couple. Putting on a friendly façade, he could easily gain his victims' trust. Then, one September night, thirty-year-old Nance pushed his luck, preying on a couple who lived to tell the tale.

A true story with an incredible twist, written by former Wall Street Journal editor John Coston and complete with photos, To Kill and Kill Again reveals the disturbing compulsions of a charming serial killer who fooled everyone he knew, stumped the authorities, terrified a community, and nearly got away with it.

A true crime must read

One twisted messed up human being. I thought the story was told brilliantly well, superb research and detail and a clever writing style that made the narrative flow really well, coupled with a top narrator and this is up there with one of the better true crime efforts. May the victims rest in peace.

good listen

i enjoyed this one, interesting story although I feel some areas would have been better with a little more detail. narrator was easy to listen to, no irritating put on voices for characters. got through it a lot quicker than i usually as i needed to know what he would do next.

Great book.

Couldn’t stop listening. Would recommend this book. The fact that it’s a true story is freaky.

An interesting character, but…

I’m a huge true crime fan and thought this was an interesting story. That said, it goes on for rather a long time and could easily have been had the length!

Stuff narration; standard true crime tale

This ain’t no In Cold Blood.

I genuinely wasn’t sure if the narration was human at times; It sounded like one of those online videos you can make yourself, a little robotic.

Perhaps it reads better as a book OR perhaps this isn’t my kind of true crime.

Quite dull overall.

Better to read than listen to

The American narrator has the kind of husky, 80-a-day voice so overused in 70s' horror movie trailers and, yes, aftershave ads in the UK, which is fine up to a point but then becomes almost physically uncomfortable for the listener. Perhaps the horrific nature of what he is reading out didn't help, but a difficult combination to endure for this listener.
