Summary
Celebrate the 30th anniversary of the holiday classic Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas with this stunning collectible novelization, adapted by New York Times bestselling author Megan Shepherd.
Jack Skellington, the beloved Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, has grown tired of his home's annual scaring routines and longs for something new. So when he and his loyal dog, Zero, discover a series of doors in the Hinterlands leading to other holiday towns, he can't help but explore--and quickly becomes enamored with Christmas Town, a place filled with jolly laughs, merry elves, and plenty of presents.
Jack shares all of his findings with the rest of Halloween Town, and together, they devise a plan to run Christmas themselves. But not all tricks can be turned into holiday treats, and Jack's dream to organize the best Christmas ever may just turn into a nightmare. Alongside friends like the rag doll Sally, can Jack find his true purpose as a holiday king?

Narrator OTT
Narrator’s style was great for the first five minutes but soon became irritating as he was far too dramatic. Let it down, I’m afraid.

Loved it.
Loved it. If fills the gaps that you don't see in the film, although the narrator is a little over the top at points!

A Difficult Story To Narrate ... Let Down In Places, But Still Good
The Nightmare Before Christmas as an audio book is definitely not a Nightmare! More like a dream come true for fans, with Jack The Pumpkin King and the enchanting events of the movie in another format.
The audio book follows the film pretty closely (and why shouldn't it as the source movie is brilliant). There are some good descriptive details to help you imagine and visualise things and for the most part it works (granted having seen the film helps greatly). There are some extra parts and extra bits of information added in which was welcome. Things like giving some of the background characters (like the vampires) more "bite" and a role. Also, you get some information on the likes of how Sally was created and so forth which was good.
The main problem... the narration.
It was always going to be difficult to read aloud and narrate a story like this. It's works well for about 15 minutes, then starts to become annoying. It's just too over the top, and gets worse as the story goes on. I felt there was too much of a contrast (difference) between normal conversations, background information and the dramatic exciting scenes. It kept jumping from 1st gear to top gear a bit too much. I also didn't like the voice-over of a certain wheelchair bound mad-scientist. He was too loud, too sharp and even sounded German at times (not sure if this was intentional).
Some aspects are good, such as Jack's voice and inflections. Very calm and logical but with emotions bubbling beneath his skeletal surface. Plus I did like how the narrator handles the "text" but not so much the characters.
it's still worth a listen nonetheless.

Awful narration
I really hate to leave a bad review but the narration on this is terrible I couldn’t focus on the story because it was too distracting. I think the narrator has a brilliant voice for this book but he just gets over excited and shouts I couldn’t finish more than 20 minutes of listening. I spent the whole time cringing every time he shouted or over pronounced words. It’s a real shame
