Summary
Another hilarious and moving novel from David Walliams, number one best seller and fastest growing children’s author in the country.
Read by David Williams!
A story of prejudice and acceptance, funny lists and silly words, this new book has all the hallmarks of David’s previous best sellers.
Our hero Ben is bored beyond belief after he is made to stay at his grandma’s house. She’s the boringest grandma ever: all she wants to do is to play Scrabble and eat cabbage soup. But there are two things Ben doesn’t know about his grandma.
- She was once an international jewel thief.
- All her life, she has been plotting to steal the Crown Jewels, and now she needs Ben’s help....
Critic reviews
"An enjoyable read with an unexpected bittersweet ending." (The Sun)
"Hugely entertaining...a comic, touching and at times sad story.” (Daily Express)
"This is possibly David’s funniest book ever.” (Heat)

It certainly was a book
For the creator of this book David Walliams is extremely unfunny with random stupid jokes during the middle of the book overall this is not a very good book the story is good but jokes are bad I would recommend the story to nobody who would actually like the original story

Nice read
Good book, nice short read. Have no clue how there's a second one (you'll understand when you've read this one). Fun, light and entertaining. Pleasant Sunday read - I'll be picking up the next one.

Fantastic
Really interesting and good for children, teens, or adults. Storyline is incredibly intriguing and has a good fluctuation between happy and funny emotions to sad and upset emotions
Would definitely recommend👍

What A Surprise!
I never dreamed that this short title would be such a rewarding listen. Its humor comes across as the children's version of a Douglas Adams riff at his cheekiest. At the same time it captures the misconceptions both practiced and imposed upon young and old alike. It perfectly captures the awkward period in life when children are becoming their own persons and struggle to remain close to older people who love them. Finally, it's a love letter to English history, propriety ... and penchant for being subversive. That's made all the more nostalgic by the recent passing of Queen Elizabeth II. There are some slightly flat side characters -- most notably the nosey neighbor as a "C" story villain. The musical tag between each chapter gets to be a bit jarring after a while. On the whole -- truly enjoyable, and touching for any age.
