Summary

He will find the truth. Even if it kills him.

Five months ago, DCI Robert Kett’s wife Billie was snatched from a London street.

Five months of no leads, no evidence, and no suspects.

Until now.

When a routine police search uncovers a chamber of horrors beneath one of the city’s most expensive houses, detectives find a clue that points to Billie’s fate, and to the identity of her kidnapper - an enigmatic killer known as the Pig Man.

Desperate for closure, and still reeling from his last investigation, Kett returns to London for his most personal and most dangerous case yet - a case that pits him against a terrifying evil.

He doesn’t know if Billie is alive or dead. He doesn’t know if he’s too late to save her. All he knows is that he swore he’d go to hell and back to find out what happened.

And now, he's about to.

You won't be able to put down this fast-paced British crime thriller from million-selling author Alex Smith.

Binge the series now:

  • Paper Girls
  • Bad Dog
  • Three Little Pigs
  • Whip Crack
  • Run Rabbit Run
  • Stone Cold Dead
  • Every Mother's Son (coming soon)

Alex Smith wrote his first book when he was six. It wasn’t particularly good, but it did have some supernatural monsters in it. His latest books, the DCI Robert Kett thrillers, have monsters in them too, although these monsters are very human, and all the more terrifying for it. In between these two books he has published 12 novels for children and teenagers under his full name, Alexander Gordon Smith - including the number one best-selling series Escape from Furnace, which is loved by millions of fans worldwide and which is soon to become a motion picture. He lives in Norwich with his wife and three young daughters.

Brilliantly written

I haven't finished book number 3 but I felt I needed to day that to enjoy this series you need to start at episode 1.
It all makes sense once you get to book 3.
However I really would have liked pre number 1 when Billy got grabbed.
Maybe yet to come.
Best series I have listened to for ages.
I don't often read other critics comments as I wish to make my own impression.
You need to read this series that makes you feel part of Ketts family.
Now finished. I did not guess the ending at all.
On to the next one.

Gripping!

How does Robbie Kett manage to hold things together with three little monsters to look after while is wife is still missing, and hold down his job throughout? I love the realistic coping strategies he adopts with his little girls. Yes, routine is important, but he doesn't sweat the small stuff like what they eat for dinner or indeed when! He gives them love and as much security as he can, while fighting to trace their mother and keep same while doing it! Beautifully written, had me in tears at times! This is the third book in the series, books1 and 2 throwing the reader straight into Kett's tumultuous life and building his character brilliantly! Book3 awaits me xXx

Narrator is great but it took me until Book 3 to realise that he sounds like Alan Titchmarsh and Baldrick (from Black Adder) 😀

Gripping from start to finish

Loved the story although very black in some cases The narrator was very good but couldn't give him full marks because he made the children sound like "brats" and not at all likeable. I am in a moment' going to buy the next book in the series. I have read and enjoyed the previous 2 books

outstanding

I really enjoyed the first two audiobooks in this series but this one was by far the most exciting so far. I know there is one more audiobook to come after this one & I'm really hoping there are more made from the series as the characters have now built to the point where I feel totally invested in their stories thanks to the wonderful reading
