Summary

Thomas Hardy rode up on a teamster with a broken wagon wheel as he traveled west, so to be neighborly he stopped and helped the man change the wheel. When they finished he convinced Tom to join him so he became a teamster and they hauled freight for the army from Fort Kearny to Fort Laramie. With the advent of the railroad and the hostiles with the Indians Tom was asked to become a scout by the commanding officer at Fort Laramie and was sent on a mission to talk with a Cheyenne war chief, there he was held as a prisoner for months. During his captivity he learned the ways of the Cheyenne people and becomes a great leader. Join Tom as he tries to save the Cheyenne and others from extinction during the Indian wars of the 1800s.
