About this listen
From multimillion-copy bestselling author Amanda Prowse, comes an emotionally compelling story that asks: what makes you happier–the life you’re given, or the one you choose?
She wants it all. But life has other plans…
After years of hard work, Madeleine’s life is very nearly perfect. She’s about to move to LA to pursue her dream job—and there’s a new man on the scene too. But when her mother falls ill, pulling her back to the world she’s tried so hard to leave behind, the repercussions of a life-changing decision Madeleine made seven years ago resurface, threatening to jeopardise everything she’s worked for.
Faced with the promise of her new life, and the pull of her old, she has to ask herself some tough questions: was what she did then right for her family? How do you know when it’s okay to put yourself first? And what’s the cost of happiness?
Heartfelt, provocative and emotional, this is a gripping look at the choices women have to make, and whether we really can have it all…

Amanda’s a genius for story telling
Hooked by the first few lines which continued all the way though. Warm characters I fell in love with, it felt honest and so true to life. The only thing i disliked is when it came to an end. I can’t wait for the next book!

The seamless flow of the past and present
It made me laugh, it made me cry and I couldn’t stop listening. I loved that the author was also the narrator and had a beautiful voice, which was perfect for her book. Thoroughly recommended.

A refreshing story, one I couldn't stop lisnening to.
I think there is a little of Madaline in all of us. At least fleetingly. It is narrated very well, realisticaly, believable. Amanda caught the feelings, the awkwardness and the emotion perfectly. There isn't a wasted word, or a second that the reader/ listener won't find believable. I particularily enjoy the passion that Madeline has for her work. For such passion to make you see what she sees. A super book worth every last second. P.S. I would love to read a part two, ... just saying

Disapointing
I felt the book was slow, too long and lacked meat on the bone. Im sorry to not leave a positive review, it just was not for me
