Summary

I’ll do whatever it takes to be free of him.

Eight months ago, my ex-boyfriend decided that if he couldn’t have me, then nobody could. What should have been the best night of my life was ruined. Stripped of friends, my parents, and denied a mate, my Soulshift was a disaster I didn’t see coming.

By now, I should have been making my own family - instead, I’m still searching for the one he destroyed. Once a month, I slink back to my hometown for the Wild Moon. It sucks having to relive everything, but it’s better than being hunted by the pack leader for breaking his rules.

This time, though, everything changes. When the Wild Moon finally shows me my mate, my last spark of hope dies. It’s him. The man who destroyed my life. There’s no way I’m letting that happen. Instead, I’m leaving town for good, and while I’m at it, I’m going to find my parents. Even if rejecting the bond kills me.

Because anything is better than being Soulbound to him.

Great adaptation

This is my first book by this author and it will definitely not be the last. Dani returns home to take part in the wild moon run. When she discovers her ex is her soul bond mate. The Alpha of her pack is a piece of work. Dani is a strong woman and her wolf will help her. the narration is excellent. This is a great first in series and I am of to read the next book in this series.

Narration ruined this audiobook

I just can’t listen to this narrator, she is one of the worst. My first thought was that she probably used to narrate porn (sorry for my honest tough on this but when you hear it you will know what I meant….it’s so oooo bad!!!)

I can't think of a positive on this one

DNF - I just couldn't.

Ugh, this character, storyline, and narrator. Was really hoping for something half decent as so many shifter stories have great potential but turn out to be so low-quality and this is a perfect example

Firstly: I can't over how much the narrator sounds like a douche. Listen to the snippet and imagine Lexi Evans saying "Bruh". When you know, you know. Even when you speed it up, she still sounds like a Chad, and it's really distracting. This might be worth a read instead of a listen if you're easily annoyed by narrators

The second thing is how the main character comes across as a self-absorbed brat and I genuinely can't tell if she's been written this way for the purpose of character development or if it's the result of warped narration. Without trying to spoil anything, an example of this is when she's in a position where she needs to comfort a distraught "best friend" and whilst this person is sobbing on her, she's thinking of a shopping spree. This supposed best friend doesn't seem to know much about her life and vice versa either, and it gives the impression of sloppy worldbuilding and you don't get the sense of any real intimacy between the two.

And the dialogue. Oh dear, the unforgivable bit! Look, I wish I could write a book and maybe one day I will but this is a genre that is so saturated in poor quality creative writing, I really wish we could see the standard raised a little more
