I actually quite enjoyed this book overall, however there were some discrepancies. Henry VII and Elizabeth of York famously had quite a loving marriage despite the circumstances in which it began, though I didn't get that impression at all through the book. It seemed that as soon as they found a connection/love, they had an argument and it was ruined for months, only for this pattern to be repeated constantly throughout. However, I did think Gregory's portrayal of Henry VII as extremely paranoid about the stability of his reign and the loyalty of those who surrounded him very realistic. I can't imagine he wouldn't have had these constant ups and downs considering the manner in which he came to the throne, and found this to be a fresh perspective. Overall, a good book by Gregory, though in terms of character relationships I have to say this is one of the rare instances where I preferred the TV adaptation.

It just wasn’t as compelling as any of the other books. As others have said, it’s quite repetitive. Also, the nature of the relationship between king Henry and Elizabeth really bugged me.
Maybe I’ve got this wrong but I thought it was noted that Henry never had a mistress which was abnormal for a king of that time. I thought it was also noted that they had great affection for each other. I’m not a big fan of those sorts of changes.
I’m just getting through it so I can move on the the next book without missing out on any crucial details.

I am a big fan of all the previous cousins war books, except this one

I enjoyed this immensely, having an interest in the monarchy.
The story was well told and easy to visualise as it developed. If I have one fault with it, it is that it ended too suddenly with the rest of her life left untold. Despite this, I would recommend the book.

Having little time for novels it's lovely to listen to something entertaining with a true historical taste. Assuages my guilt. I can relax but still feel I'm learning something. My 12 year old daughter loves it though we have to monitor certain "bits ". If your wanting a relaxing holiday listen ..This is your book !.
