About this listen

One summer, something happened that changed everything forever…

Born and brought up in an artists’ commune in Derbyshire, Oriana Taylor had freedom at her fingertips in a home full of extraordinary people.

The Bedwell brothers, Malachy and Jed, shared their childhood and adolescence with Oriana. In the rambling old house and tangled grounds, their dreams and desires could take wing unchecked.

But too much freedom comes at a price. Something happened the summer they were fifteen. And now, having been gone eighteen years, Oriana is back.

This is their story.

A love story that keeps you wondering..

What did you like most about The Way Back Home?

I liked being wondering about and being kept in the dark about the secret ..

What did you like best about this story?

The classic set up of misunderstandings ..

What does Melody Grove bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I generally enjoy audio books but the narrator can make or break a book and Melody Grove makes this book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. I did not want to listen to it all at once.

Any additional comments?

A good book but one of many along the same theme.

Great Listening

Love anything by Freya North, you always know it's going to be a good read (or a good listen in this case!)
I'm new to Audiobooks but loved the narrators rendition, found her voice quite soothing!
I was hooked from the first chapter and couldn't wait to listen to all the twists and turns as the story unfolded.
The story revolves around Oriana, a young girl who grew up in an artists commune in Derbyshire. A shattering event that happened when she was fifteen resulted in her being sent away from everything and everyone she loved. But, she's returned now trying to make sense of the past and look forward to her future....Back home.

Huge fan of Freya North but soooo dull

I could not finish this book. Got about 6 chapters in and nothing gripped me or made me want to continue reading, quite the opposite - sent me to sleep! Exceptionally slow pace. Found it unnecessarily wordy. Narrator's voice and performance also not for me, which didn't help matters. I got the sense this book was for the older generation (I'm in my mid 20s). Even the characters which I think were meant to be young people sounded too mature. Not for people who like young adult books!
