Summary

As sudden as a light switch turning off, John’s world came to a halt. He had held the world in the palm of his hand. Sure, things like the pressures of the new job had things on edge a little. Shelly was busy also with the move and of course, her new job. Jason, their son, was off kilter from moving away from his school buddies—moving was something he had never experienced before. Life was not perfect, but the family was dealing with it and once everyone settled into their new routines, all would be back to a happy normal. The camping and canoeing trip with their new friends from church would help soothe everyone’s nerves and familiarize them with the changed status quo.

That is what John had counted on. What he hadn’t expected was the devastating tragedy that arrived instead. He now stood teetering on a parapet, overlooking a dark and deep chasm. His inner demons gnawed at his will to live, pushing and pulling at him and manipulating his normally unshakeable thinking. John had never believed he could fall so far, but there he was, contemplating his worth to his family, his church, the woman he loved, and even his creator. John’s ability to fight his these mental battles was faltering. He had all but given up on his responsibilities to the new church and its parishioners. He was too devoured by guilt over the death of his son to give his much-needed attentions to those around him.

There was a storm on the horizon, and someone was bound to lose their grip in the turmoil. Something unthinkable was on the cusp of the cloud that was barreling down toward the small town of Ash Grove, Missouri. Who would fall first and begin the domino effect? Was it even possible for the town to recover from the oncoming doom set to shatter lives on such a cold and rainy Sunday morning?

Come ride the freight train of emotions of one seemingly normal mortal man as he takes a twisted journey toward renewing the world that he had once held so calmly in the palm of his hands. Meet the townspeople and learn what can happen in a little place tucked away in the Ozark hills when an outsider meant to lead them in faith instead stumbles and falls. Through anger and tears, action and inaction, witness just how far one man can push his creator away before it becomes too much? Does that single miracle called grace even exist? Or had he placed too much faith in accepting the call he believed he had received?
