Summary
Some people are born boring. Some live boring. Some even die boring. Fred managed to do all three, and when he woke up as a vampire, he did so as a boring one. Timid, socially awkward, and plagued by self-esteem issues, Fred has never been the adventurous sort.
One fateful night - different from the night he died, which was more inconvenient than fateful - Fred reconnects with an old friend at his high school reunion. This rekindled relationship sets off a chain of events thrusting him right into the chaos that is the parahuman world, a world with chipper zombies, truck driver wereponies, maniacal necromancers, ancient dragons, and now one undead accountant trying his best to “survive”.
Because even after it’s over, life can still be a downright bloody mess!
Performed by Christopher Walker, Nora Achrati, Scott McCormick, Alejandro Ruiz, Bradley Smith, Carolyn Kashner, Ken Jackson, Terence Aselford, Richard Rohan, Rose Elizabeth Supan, Mort Shelby, Colleen Delany, Zeke Alton, Henry Kramer, Nanette Savard, and David Zitney.

disappointing
Get the unabridged book instead. This versiob kills the characters, story and sense of fun, which is quite an achievement.

No Kirby means No Fred
I’ve listened to the original a few times. So Kirby Heyborne is the voice of Fred. I bought this version to hear some of the other characters have different voices. Some pleasant surprises, but the lack of Kirby as Fred is too much to overcome. Listen to the original

This was fun!
I like Kirby Heybourne. I like his audiobooks. But this is not an audiobook. It is a radio drama and it is done very well. Graphic Audio was up to their normal, high quality, standards. It is like an abridged version of the book, but without losing anything. I enjoyed the background sounds and music. This is not for people who listen to go to sleep. You won't fall asleep during this. It will keep you awake if you need something to keep your attention and stay alert. The story is 5 star, The production is 5 star. The cast did an outstanding job. This is a great book, too. If you have not read it, please consider the series as told by Kirby. I noticed the second book will be released soon. I'll be buying that as well.

Listen to the original!
While voice performances are good, this attempt to dramatize a great book with an already wonderful narration is a flop. There is nothing to add to to Drew Hayes’ wonderful story and I think we actually lose something with this adaption. The sound effects and music were distracting and unnecessary. This version also is poorly organized. There are only chapter breaks for the main sections and not each section like the Kindle or original audiobook. I won’t be trying the rest of these. I’ll stick with Kirby and Drew in their original format!

Great production and story
I am a fan of Drew Hayes other works (NPCs, Super Powereds), so I wanted to give the Vampire Accountant series a try, but I was very put off by the 4-star rating for the first book (the original 7 hour book, not the 5 hour Graphic Story version). When I read the reviews for why the original 7 hour was disliked, most said they were annoyed by the short story recaps and summaries, so I assumed that the new 5 hour version didn’t include those summaries. I haven’t listened to the original, but I was quite pleased with this new 5 hour book, and there were no summaries in between the short stories, so this actually read more like a single short novel and was very gratifying.
I will definitely be listening to the next book in this interesting series.

Great story but way too much profanity
I love Drew Hayes creative writing and this story is amazingly creative. But the amount of "f" ing this and that gets really old really fast. Profanity doesn't add to the story's entertainment one bit. It actually becomes a distraction. Very disappointed.

totally entertaining
I really enjoy this format, it's like a play but for your ears. I like the Fred series. The premise of a boring vampire is super entertaining. I don't think I'd read this as a book, but as a play/radio show format, it's great.

Rollicking Good Fun
I love Drew Hayes' look at the supernatural world ~ charming, otherworldly, yet pragmatic (after all, these people do live here, right?). I especially love this production as the characters are now fully realized. The music and the sounds effects add dimension without detracting from the main action. Great fun!

Fred
Drew Hayes has created a true hero. Fred is not the strongest, fastest, or smartest vampire out there. instead he is a good friend, a hard worker, and an honest persion. Like many of us fred and his friends are just doing they're best and it is amazing how much good comes from a simple vampire accountant. p.s. the series is fantastic regardless of the voice actors as long as you stick with the same voices from beginning to end.

Amazing story made better by graphic audio
I love this series and Drew Hayes is easily in my top 3 authors. Graphic audio does great work and they did an amazing job doing this book.

Thought I was just getting another book...
I got a dramatized adaptation & LOVED IT! Good job all around. I’ll look for more of these. I originally purchased because I enjoy this author.
