About this listen
What was it actually like to live in Elizabethan England? If you could travel to the past and walk the streets of London in the 1590s, where would you stay? What would you eat? What would you wear? Would you really have a sense of it being a glorious age? And if so, how would that glory sit alongside the vagrants, diseases, violence, sexism and famine of the time? In this book Ian Mortimer answers the key questions that a visitor to late 16th-century England would ask.

What did you like most about The Time Traveller's Guide to Elizabethan England?
I liked this book as it focused on the ordinary lives of people at the time; how they lived day to day life, how they thought and viewed the world. What does Mike Grady bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Very well narrated, definitely ignited my imagination. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
No. It is a book on facts regarding the period of the time. It is meant to read as a 'guide' and therefore very little emotional content.Any additional comments?
This is a 'light' read. It would be perfect for younger listeners as it is easy to follow and no complicated terminology or pretentiousness. At the same time it is not patronising or simplified.Simplistic yet interesting
