Finally convinced about fasting

I was aware of fasting but was not entirely convinced about the benefits or the science vs feeling hungry. This book clearly lays out the science and benefits easily understandable to the average person. I recommend it.

TLDR: eat pescatarian/vegan/keto to live forever

unconvinced of the credentials of the author, and found contradictory info throughout where he tries to figure out what naturally long lived populations do and eat but also try to "hack" autophagy short cuts (long living Cretians that drank red wine regularly, but alcohol is only permitted once a month on the plan. Sardinians/Okinawans that eat a fairly high carb diet but not allowed carbs on this plan).
Ignores using well known populations that already fast and eat low protein diets (many Muslim populations are vegetarian but still have issues with diabetes, cancer etc) but don't live long, and instead uses weird comparisons, such as a long living whale to illustrate the benefits of eating omega 3...

There's prob a lot that is good for you here (won't argue that a diet high in veggies and fish with exercise is great), and I'm sure intermittent fasting had benefits, but it largely ignores human behaviour and what is sustainable, and only devotes about two pages to the "diet" (less than is devoted to talking about the author, how he's "read" a lot about this, was early to map his own genome - so what? - and therefore we should ignore the lack of doctorate) - and this dietary approach is a long list of what not to do or eat (no grains, no sugars, no alcohol, very little animal protein, very low carb), with very little on the "permitted" list (green veggies, omega 3 and macadamia nuts apparently).

Not one of the better books on health I've read - instead would recommend "Why we eat (too much)"
