Pretty Amazing
I learn so much from reading Victoria Hislop's books. Her research is staggering.
The central characters changed during the book, this did not really distract from history lesson though.

Sunrise Hotel, Or The Sun Rises On A New Cyprus?!
Our story starts in 1972, before the civil war in Cyprus.
Famagusta, the most desirable resort in the Mediterranean, is the home of wealthy hotel owners who open the island's most spectacular hotel! It is a new era!
Greek and Turkish Cypriots live and work in harmony. Neighbours, the Georgious and the Özkans, came to escape unrest and ethnic violence.
We see war break out & we are there at it’s ending.
What does it achieve & what does it mean for the hotel owners, the Georgious and the Özkans?
Well read.

Yet another brilliant story by Victoria Hislop
I love the way Victoria writes. Her stories are gripping and weaved into real historical events. This one is beautifully read by Carole Boyd (Linda from the Archers). She brought all the characters to life and was wonderful with the different accents and genders . I will look for further books read by her.

Thought provoking
I didn't know anything about Cyprus history before I listened to this story. Well told and performed. Tragedy, drama, loss, all types of human feeling crammed into this story.
Outlining refugees and what today's refugees may have lost too.
Thoroughly enjoyed this story. Would like to read more on Cyprus history too.
