Summary
Suzie Fletcher is the warm and friendly face on TV's The Repair Shop that viewers look forward to watching every week as the resident leather expert - a craft she has honed over four decades and was born out of her love of horses. But while she tends to be the one repairing and offering a gentle kindness to others, Suzie has also been in a process of change, reflection, and healing.
In her first book Suzie looks back over her life - which moves from England to Colorado and back again - and the places, people and experiences that have shaped the person she is today. We'll hear for the first time, how Suzie has overcome some of life's most difficult challenges, from complicated relationships to grief.
A self-confessed free spirit with a deep connection to nature, Suzie's exceptional warmth and zest for life shine through on every page, making The Sun Over the Mountains a truly inspiring listen that will resonate with anyone who has faced uncertainty but has the courage and power within them to overcome it.

Superb !
Just an amazing book. What a life Suzie has had, she’s such a strong lady. There were chapters that made me angry that she stayed with her husband who really was a bully for so many years, but she loved him and love always wins. I’m so glad she had good friends in the US that looked out for her. And Suzie on a Harley…. That will always make me smile. She has a fabulous talent as a “Leather Engineer” as she calls it, I’m so glad she’s back safe in the UK and we witness her talent in the Repair Shop. I would 100% recommend this book it’s powerful and passionate and well narrated.

emotional
I quickly became entranced by this story, susie starting a new life, overcoming prejudice, abuse and extreme sadness; while fighting against misogynistic values,Susie is such an inspiration to everyone that has had everything thrown at them; showing that recovery and self care, love and support can make you strong again.

Not what I was expecting
Having seen Suzie on The Repair Shop and seeing her tear up over her husband dying of cancer I was expecting this book to include a wonderful loving marriage but it didn’t. Her husband was a violent coercive abuser who she loyally stood by. Wish she’d been attracted to lovely men like her brother Steve and not the bad boys. Apart from being disappointed in her relationship I loved the fact that she was resilient and courageous in her ambitions and hopefully after years of gaslighting she is now getting back to the confident woman she used to be.

A very interesting listen.
I was captivated by Susie's whole life story. Emotional in places but these parts were critical to the overall story. Highly recommended.

An inspiring listen!
Like other listeners I only took a few days to listen to the whole book. Life’s lessons and reflections interweaved with Suzie’s great music playlist kept me enthralled. An open and honest reflection on life’s ups and downs- sometimes a hard listen - but engaging and enlightening reflections of some really tough times were very brave, and I’m sure will help some people to cope and hopefully be brave enough to take action if they find themselves in the same situation. Thank you Suzie for baring your soul and making this one of my books of the year!

Susie’s commitment to the life she had chosen with Rob. Many women would have walked away .
Enjoyed every chapter, Having recently lost my son and my husband I could empathise with Susie, I liked that she never sounded sorry for herself. Her story could have sounded depressing but it was quite uplifting.
