Summary

When Joe and Christy Davenport step behind the Oxford-blue-painted door of their 'forever' home, they believe their dreams have come true. Yet the boxes aren't even unpacked before a series of events leads Christy to become obsessed with the previous occupant, the glamorous, enigmatic Amber Fraser, whose departure from Lime Park Road is shrouded in mystery.

What happened to her? And why are Joe and Christy's attempts at friendship with neighbours met with an unnerving silence?

Characters that I struggled to understand

Christie really annoyed me. I still don't really understand why she cared quite so much. Slightly anti climactic and too many characters. It was enjoyable though to an extent and it kept me interested.

I was hooked until the end, let down

found the narration a little one dimensional, sometimes difficult to realise it was a different character speaking. The end was a real disappointment after the build up , only obtaining Amber's view point and no real closure for others.

Good listen

I enjoyed listening to the audio version of this book. The narrator was very good and brought the story and characters to life. U liked the fact that the story was told through different characters perspectives and this adds to the story line. The ending wasn’t that surprising but it was a good listen nonetheless 👍🏻

struggle

I found it all a bit twee and longwinded. All about neighbourhood gossip, a bit desperate housewifes.

Gripping story, average ending

Really well written, plot draws you in. The characters were unlikeable, but I don't think you're supposed to like them. Bit of a anti climax ending, was hoping for more of a twist.

Absolute corker.

Excellent story. I was intrigued throughout. Couldn't stop listening. Excellent narration. Definitely recommend. A truly dark tale that pulls you in.

Enjoyed it but struggled with the characters

Spoilers - This is a weird one. Started in an intriguing way, so I kept going, but towards the middle of the book, the characters just became unbearable. The main character is awful, no redeeming qualities at all and, somehow, she gets away with everything. I kept waiting for a twist or some strange revelation, but nothing happened and it actually felt like the book was somehow unfinished, really weird.

Loved this brilliant book

I really enjoyed everything about this book what a great author. The characters were so well defined and the narration excellent. There were no real twists or dark threads just a story about relationships and obsession. I would recommend this as a great holiday listen. I am enjoying all of this authors books.

Good, easy read

A good story that keeps you listening, slightly marred by a few mispronounced words but on the whole very enjoyable
