Eye Opening

I have to write a literature paper, and chose this book. This book has so many components of historical events associated with why Black America is what it is to this day. My eyes were opened to a part of American history that has been grazed over in schools or summarized to a few paragraphs. He tells the events in a point of view that doesn't feel biased, it feels honest and truthful. I feel this book should be apart of every Americans collection.

Life changing

I'm white. I'm Canadian. I read this because I believe this was an insight into history.

This book (and perfect reading) is art like the great classic writers I read in high school and college. It has made me angry to not have had this assigned to me when I was younger.

This book is poetry, history, social / economic analysis, folkloric and spiritual. This has informed how I see the world, and find this book gives insight into modern problems beyond race conflict.

The Narrator kill it for me

The tone of the narrator really kill this for me. Reading it myself makes it far better.

Still Relevant

Although this book is over 100 years old, some of the Du Boise’s theories about race relations in the US are still relevant for more discussion today

insightful look into the struggle of African Ameri

this can be somewhat of a hard read but if you can make it through the first several chapters you will be fine
