Summary

Are you too tired and fed up with the routine of drinking, and want to make a change and improve your life? Or you may simply be curious about how an alcohol-free life might look for you. Could it be better? Happier? Calmer? More peaceful?

The Sober Survival Guide is a unique quit-alcohol book and is split into two parts. The first is designed to set you up for success and put you in a place where you can find freedom from alcohol. The first part of the book contains essential information for when you're in the early stages of controlling your drinking. The second part serves as a handbook as you move forward into an alcohol-free life. As you listen, you'll see I've used my own experiences and those of the people I've worked with to help ensure you're ready for the challenges, fears, and questions that will come up in the years after quitting drinking.

You'll learn how to handle the work Christmas party without a glass of bubbly in hand, the joys of sober holidays, what to do when you stop drinking but your partner won't, and a whole lot more.

This unique quit-alcohol book also shares my own stories and personal accounts that helped me learn (sometimes the hard way). Part memoir, part sober guide, and 100 percent alcohol-free, The Sober Survival Guide is perfect for anyone looking to free themselves from the grip of alcohol.

Brilliant

I’ve read or listened to so many sober books , this was up there with my favourites. Easy to listen to, quite a dry sense of humour and thoroughly enjoyable throughout

Good light to medium weight Quit-Lit

This book is a good companion to keep the sobriety plate spinning. Nothing too heavy here but definitely useful and valid. I imbibe an almost constant drip feed of this type of book to keep me remembering why I MUST stay sober.
I'll most likely listen to this again after a few more books have gone through the cycle.

Great listen

Really good listen for those already started their sober adventure and great for re enforcing your sober values/commitment, quite light heated and funny in places which I liked but still gets a serious message accross, and unlike some on here I liked the narration. Thumbs up from me 👍

Positive but might be too positive

I think the content itself and the tone of the reader makes sobriety as a path of roses when, in my opinion, it is important to address profoundly the big lows that happen when you leave a substance you are addicted to. Too much positivity leads to feelings of not doing something well if you don’t feel that positive.

Best alcohol / addiction book I've listened to

I love the way it's written and the voice of the reader perfect, and perfectly read.

Okay

I started with Allen Carr and am trying to listen to as many sobriety audio books as possible. Even though Allen Cares is also repetitive, I found this one a bit OTT at times and the tone of the reader a bit annoying.

A bit lightweight…

…a lot of this felt very much like statements of the obvious. Lots of repetition, so better suited to printed format than audiobook. Narration is dreadful. Clearly not the guy who wrote the book, so performed the content rather than engaged with it. Voice a bit grating.

Chronicle of humble bragging and platitudes

I suppose the question is, do you want to hear about Simon Chapple's successful business ventures and minutiae about his relationships with clients? Chapple and all his BS about 'success' is not only obnoxious, it's nihilistic and extremely unhelpful unless you too want to quit drinking in order to become Steve Jobs
